Bowl Season: 17-13-2....went 3-5 on new years days as a GREAT afternoon was washed away by a LOUSY night with four losing bets combined on the Rose and Sugar bowls....as someone who had the Illini and Rainbow, perhaps you just take the following with a major grain of salt:
Va Tech -2.5 over KU......I appreciate the fact so many quality cappers on this site are on the Jayhawks. They are a stat sheet stuffer and carry an amazing 10-1 ATS into the game. How can you not fall in love with those numbers.
But, I have a secret addiction to the Va Tech Hokies, who have been money makers the back half of the season as they snatched covers in games vs Clemson, GT, Miami, FSU, UVA and BC....with only the BC regular season game the only loser in the mix.....the Hokies have scored 30 points six times in the last 8 games and for the most part have cruised to wins.....even w/o Ore for a quarter, I think VT will play a very efficient, ball control offense tonight with the QB tandem of Glennon--who really has come on made some bg throws down the stretch--and Tyrod Taylor will keep the Jawhawks off balance most of the night.
I loved what KU has done this year. An amazing story. But, tonight, they are playing far and away the best defense they will have seen all season long. Reising is a gamer at QB, but I just dont think his so-so arm strenghth will be able to make all those mid range passed against the quick Hokie D, nor do I think his OL will hold up....I know KU has numbers, but teams like CU and TAMU held them to 19 points....clearly, the Hokies can as well. They have 43 sacks and 22 picks on the season and I think they will thwart Reising more than enough tonight to throw the kid off his game and put them in catch up mode for most of the game.
Predicting a big special team play would be, well, a cliche, but you know at least will be coming.
The Hokies gagged away their bowl last year vs UGA, and they wont make the same mistake again.
Va Tech wins this one 27-17.
Good luck to everyone tonight!!
