Oregon QB Vernon Adams has broken right index finger
Oregon Ducks quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. has a broken index finger on his throwing hand, and his status for Saturday's game has yet to be determined, a source told ESPN's Brett McMurphy on Tuesday.
Sources told ESPN that Adams suffered the injury to his right hand in the Ducks' season opener against Eastern Washington after taking a hard hit in the fourth quarter. He played with the injury during the Ducks' 31-28 loss to Michigan State on Saturday.
No. 12 Oregon hosts Georgia State on Saturday before opening Pac-12 play against Utah on Sept. 26.
"We don't really talk about those kind of player availability kind of things other than the best guy for us is going to be out there playing. ... Like everybody is less than 100 percent at some point in the season," Oregon coach Mark Helfrich said Tuesday.
Adams has completed 41 of 64 passes for 555 yards and three touchdowns and two interceptions in two games. He also has rushed for 100 yards and another score.
