i saw nolan started a thread on his best actor pick of sean penn. i wanted to broaden the topic, so i started another thread.
there is one thing to remember that there is at least 1 upset every year.
here are my picks. there are no favorites & eventhough i have made picks it doesn't necessarily mean that i saw the movie. my plays are who i think will win, not necessaily my choice.
best actor- bill murray+200---i saw lost in translatio & while i thought the movie was a little slow, i liked murray's performance. i also saw mystic river & while i liked the movie, i think penn's performance was over rated 7 don't think he is worth the price. 1 unit
best actress-diane keaton+500--think alot of older people will vote for her because it shows a positive attitude for an over 50 crowd. i didn't see theron's performance but she has a very strong chance of winning, but at -1000 ? .5 unit
best director- didn't bet this but absolutely loved the rings & think he is a lock as is the movie. but again is it worth laying -1200 ? not for me
original screenplay--in america + 400--didn't see this movie, but my wife & all of her friends loved the movie at worth taking a shot. also lost in translation is the favorite at -500. imo, too high to lay any bucks on a boring movie. 1 unit
addaptive screenplay-lord of the rings +150- read that it took 8 years to make all 3 movies & i feel the academy will reward that commitment. 1 unit
best movie--not playing it but as stated above rings should have a bonanza on the night. rings is -1000.
supporting actor-alec baldwin +600 just a hunch. the favorite, robbins is -400 .5 unit
supporting actress- played 2 medium dogs-aghdashloo+450 & clarkson +800 at .5 units each. the favorite, zellegger is -400
those are my plays. like to hear comments or who everybody likes.
