OSU/PSU, help if you are not a fan of either team

Most of the posts on the PSU/OSU game I see around the forums are written from a fan's perspective and it's pretty hard to have any sort of accurate assessment of a game when you are a fan of either team, especially in a rivalry game.

I'm not a PSU fan, but I do hate OSU and I do see a lot of both team's games being here in Western PA so I know even my own opinion is slanted. I'd like to know what non-biased fans think about this game.

My thoughts are this:

When a higher ranked team is getting points from a lower ranked team it usually is best to take the lower ranked team and lay the points.

OSU's schedule has not been strong. PSU schedule slightly better and they did handle Michigan albeit at home. The game is at OSU where they are just so hard to beat. Barkley has better results on turf (which OSU has) than grass (PSU field).

It's hard to tell how good OSU really is, or isn't. We have a slightly better view of PSU, but really not much more to go on.

Average PSU fan, TAKE THE ML!!!!!!

Maybe it's just a game to be avoided from a wagering standpoint.

That's my mindset. Lots of variables into play here. Revenge, bye wk.. etc..etc. While I agree with some that Penn St + is very appealing when looking at the numbers, I just can't do it. Looking forward to watching it though. Don't need to have money riding on the outcome to enjoy this one.

I do not think talent is tilted either way....if anything you have to give edge to psu for having best athlete on field.....saquon is literally a monster and impossible to prepare for the size/speed/athleticism combo


But....Home field and revenge are key here...bad spot for PSU with Urban having 7 extra days for preparation

Hey J! Been a big fan for years and always root for you in the Hilton. I agree that giving #2 a touchdown seems really strong but I think it warrants some closer examination. I'm seeing a lot more respected cappers on Ohio State. All 4 game day clowns on the Bucks including the one (Kirk Herbstreit) who seems to be the most consistent with his picks when I use them for capping purposes. Every trend in the world favors Urban to include bye, revenge, Penn St off that big emotional win but that too deserves a closer look. Is it really revenge when Ohio St made it to the playoff while Penn State won the B10 and got left out?? I have to believe the deep rooted revenge would be on Penn State's side. Now as far as that big, emotional PSU win you need to listen to those closest to the program. Not only did PSU pull a lot of starters early in the 4th but insiders were saying that Franklin wouldn't let the team discuss the game at all starting on Monday morning. James Franklin has been a steady leader so far and has kept these kids on a pretty even keel. Hard to go 16-1 in a 17 game span in college. This team seems to travel much better than the Paterno/Obrien teams of the past. I also understand that the Oklahoma game seems like it was years ago but nobody else on the Bucks schedule even comes close to Penn State outside of Baker's boys. I'm not saying you're wrong but this isn't our Uncle's PSU team. These kids are focused, well coached and have a playoff snub chip on their shoulders. They also have the best player in college football and a pretty decent defense that hasn't allowed a point in the 1st quarter this year and that's not easy to do even when you factor in the mediocre offenses they've faced. Again, not saying the Bucks can't put together a great game and come out on top but I'm expecting a competitive game from the Lions. Good luck today!

I understand that he's a complete homer but when it comes to that particular crew, he normally offers the most accurate and useful insights as I've been tracking his picks for the last 7 or 8 seasons. I didn't base that post around him but made mention of the fact that every swinging dick out there seems to be on Ohio St. Just saw the service count across the street it was 20-5 in favor of Ohio St. I just don't feel that the 7 is as enticing as some people think it is.
