Starting tailback Kendall Hunter is doubtful for No. 16 Oklahoma State?s game this Saturday against Rice with an injured right leg.

Cowboys coach Mike Gundy announced Hunter?s status Monday on the Big 12 coaches teleconference.

Hunter left Oklahoma State?s 45-35 loss to Houston on Saturday in the second quarter. He has rushed for 104 yards on 32 carries in two games this season after leading the Big 12 with 1,555 yards rushing a year ago.

Gundy says the Cowboys (1-1) are fortunate to have depth with Keith Toston and Beau Johnson backing up Hunter. The duo combined for 148 yards against Houston.

Johnson ran nine times for 82 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown run, and Toston had 10 carries for 66 yards and touchdown.
