Texas ahead in harris poll, and net ahead in human polls, ahead in ap poll, but down in computers. Essentially Mizzou giving up last second TD is the difference.

That sure makes sense doesnt it.

Edit: this is per a phone call I got. It isnt official. My guess is the teams have been told the results.

If this is cause of the OU chump computer rankings something has to be done.

well if head to head matters

then texas tech should be in the big 12 title game over texas right?

or ou should be in over texas tech

or texas should be in over ou

i love how texas uses it's one argument to demand that they by in.....

quite honestly, the system sucks and if i had to pick who played the tougher ooc schedule + is hotter right now...i'd take ou.

that said, a 4 team playoff of

ou vs texas
sc vs fla/bama

would be sweet

8 team playoff mimimizes the regular season...and in certain years involves 2 and 3 loss teams....YAWN....

make it a 4 team playoff on new years day + title game a week later

Maybe we can end up having co-nat'l champions...

This isn't rocket science. All we need is top 8 bcs teams to play through Dec. It will take nothing away from the bowls and you set up a new years "final 4"

I try to take college football for what its worth, but with all the technology and money we have in this....this is easy.

I don't think 8 teams...out of 119....waters down the season. It makes sure that no one gets left out who is really deserving. If you get a 2-loss team in there, who really cares. LSU won it last year with 2 losses....

Texas has stronger SOS. In every other conference Texas wins the 3 way tie. Nobody is even considering Tech, right or wrong, as a contender. Its a two team race and that choice is obvious. Who is hot is bullshit arguement. Maybe Ole Miss should go. And OU sure wasnt using that one in 2003 after getting steamrolled by Kansas State.

if head to head matters go check the 1993 season when notre dame got passed over for fla state who they just beat 3 weeks before the season ended.

if head to head matters, go talk to the ncaa tourney committee every march when it comes to selection sunday.

Oklahoma lost first, then Texas lost, then Texas Tech lost. The system unfairly punishes you for losing late in the season.

Even though Texas Tech is ranked lower....all 3 teams have the EXACT SAME ARGUMENT to play in the Big12 title game and also have the same argument to play for the nat'l title.

So that's why we are tired of hearing 45-35. If you get in, then good for you. If you don't get in, its b/c you lost too late in the season.

45-35 is IRRELEVANT.

USC lost longest ago of all. They arent No 2 are they? Florida lost next and still are 4. Both lost earlier than OU. Losing late in the season isnt the driving force here. Heck frggin LSU lost their last regular season game last year.

Like I have said many times, if someone wants to argue for Tech over Texas I have no problem with that. But NOBODY is doing that..they just use Tech to justify taking OU.

USC also lost to an unranked team and dropped a lot further. Texas Tech lost to a top-5 team and dropped from 2nd to 7th and can't recover from that.

USC can't get past that loss b/c they've played one good team all year. Pac 10 is awful.

That is because no single person has a reason for saying Tech deserves to go.
They got spanked by 44 points, played maybe the weakest non conference schedule in entire NCAA, and everyone believes they are overrated.
People say Baylor almost beat them like it is bad then same people say why isn't Tech being considered.
WE ALL NO WHY. 65-21 took care of them.
Does the system suck? YES
Are two teams getting hosed? YES

I just can't figure why the team with strongest SOS and same record with H2H win over 1 of the 2 two teams is the one getting hosed in the computers.
AP poll(irrelevant) and Harris Poll has them ahead of the other 2 and is still out.
PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW THAT WORKS???

who exactly have florida and alabama beaten that they get so much love. this is the worst year in the sec in ages. take away those two teams and its as pathetic as the pac-10 or big 10. big 12 was light years the best conference. florida and alabama get so much credit for beating an average georgia team and a piss poor lsu team because they were both way overranked at the time they played.

personally i think oklahoma is the best team.....but they lost to texas who lost on a last second play by crabtree.

why not boise st or utah or even ball state? why are they even division 1 footballl teams. if you play division one and win every game and don't get to play for the title then why are you even division 1? revamp the whole system.

florida would lose to oklahoma and be in a tight game with usc or texas.

alabama would lose to oklahoma, texas, usc, and probably boise.

oklahoma would beat usc, alabam, florida, and you can't say texas.....already done that.

just from a feel standpoint i think oklahoma is the best team, but its hard to argue that when in the same conversation is a team that beat them on a neutral field and couldn't come close to stopping their offense.

bdb, alabama would not lose to boise, i don't know if boise could put up 10 points.

we will see ou play fla in a month and it may be the best NC game ever.

btw, lsu blows and they did last year as well.

In my opinion Florida and USC are the two best teams in the country right now!

So why play the season? The body of work has to matter. Ole Miss is playing great now and won at the Swamp..should we ignore their 4 losses? Was LSU one of the two best teams fresh off the home OT loss to Arkansas last year while Georgia got dissed?

FLorida and USC are damned good - they also each have one of the 2 worst losses of the candidates in terms of who they lost to. Florida the only team to lose at home. USC was what a 4td fav?

My biggest argument this whole time has been b/c they are in the same conference. They have the same resume by playing in the same conference and none of them had a great win outside the conference, not that it would change my mind that much.

If it was UNC, Texas, and Notre Dame....all of them were 11-1 and UNC was ranked 7th...then I could say, ok Texas beat Notre Dame so they should go. Even if ND beat UNC and UNC beat Texas.

That is why I feel head-to-head is irrelevant. All 3 have a right to play for the conference title and anyone of them who wins that conf title deserves to play for the nat'l title.

So it just came down to a matter of opinion and could have gone either way.

I am tired of debating such a crappy system...

I am not arguing that OU has a strong case to go as they clearly do and even TT has a minor beef.
I just want the above to be answered as to how OU is the team of the 3.
Harris Poll is Texas by a few, OU is 1 point ahead in coaches(thanks to the two idiots that voted 1 loss OU #1 over Bama). OU maybe better but Bama is 12-0 in the SEC and no one else in undefeated(that is a clear cut number for now).
Texas is #12 on SOS and OU is #17.

With all this info, how does OU get the nod is just my question?

Either way, OU is a very strong team and I give up on my beef. Even though I don't like OU, I do like the Big 12 so I want them to bring it home.

I am not counting on Mizzou AT ALL.
