From Covers:
As well, consider home plate umpire Gary Darling, who's racked up a tasty 23-13 'over' record with an average of 10.6 runs a night. Darling turns arms into spaghetti by allowing a stratospheric pitch count of 301 per game.
Darling was behind home plate on Oct. 5 when David Wells and the Yanks beat Johan Santana and the Twins 8-1, taking Game 4 of their ALDS 'over' by a run. The Twins were bounced from the playoffs in the loss.
The 'over' is 4-2-1 the last seven times Darling has called a Yankees game, and a sizzling 6-2 when he dons the mask for a Marlins matchup.
Looks like a parade will be held tonight at home plate. That is, as long as the Marlins don't dismantle their team before the game.
Dont know if I would call it a hit parade, but Santana has some good stuff also.........
Going with the over......
