Oregon and Washington. Especially Oregon. Miami is another school (non pac 10) you could argue got screwed as well.
UCLA was playing for a NC until they travelled across country on there last game of year and lost to Miami by 3pts I think. You see, Pac 10 schools play tough OOC schedule and also travel away from home. If UCLA schedule creampuffs and played at home, UCLA would have made it to the NC that year and "maybe" win it. (although they had crappy defense but one hell of an offense) Oregon would have challenged Miami (when Miami blew out Nebraska). Washingon and Miami both got screwed one year but Washington beat Miami that same year.
What other schools have played for the championship besides USC?
Washington and USC both have won NC's.
Play tough OOC schedule, play tough OOC games on road, play in a competitive conference, your not going to have many teams playing for NC or teams ranked in the top 25. WINS/LOSSES determine top 25 rankings.
It is quite easy to understand.
*never did I say Pac 10 was the strongest conf. in the country.
