Got a little lucky with Utah
Zona's defense played much better than I anticipated. Zona fumbled inside the 5 to end the half and Mike Bell went down for most of the game. Arizona was a few bounces away from a different outcome..... but this was still the right play in my opinion and we covered

good calls... some observations
oregon looked bad, now they go to oklahoma...
sc dominated, as expected
ucla still gave up 400+ on defense, but a win is a win
wash. st. gave the buffs the game
asu got a quality road win.
zona will stay in a lot of games playing that stoops-like defense.
cal travels this week to so. miss, who handled nebraska vaulted passing game.

johnny and the other pac-10 crew:

I was in Chicago this weekend so the only game I caught was ASU-NU
and bits of the UA-UTH game on from a distance.... What was the deal with OU and WSU?

I cant imagine Cal will play SO MISS with Ivan bearing down on the Southeast expected to hit around MS on Wed

Hey bgold...how did we look in person at NU? At the UTEP game, the player that really stood out was Robinson...OMG he is like Ray Lewis in this defense. And he lays the wood. Walter got sloppy on 5 or 6 of his throws, but played pretty well.

Can you believe we are laying a point and a half against Iowa? I thought we were going to be getting 3. Farentz made Koetter look like a little boy last season, and it's tough to think that won't happen again. Tell me what you think about that.

With regards to Wazzu, they just aren't very good. Scwogger isn't very good. They don't have a running game and Derting is their only defensive impact player. This is the year they fall back to earth after losing big time talent (Long, Trufant, Gesser, Darling) to the NFL. Doba is a good coach, so at least they got that going for them.

We were debating the asu/iowa spread on the trip home and i thought asu would BE GETTING anywhere from 2-5 points not giving points. I guess the oddsmakers werent impressed by Iowa beating their rival by 7 points

Dale Robinson on D stood out big time at the game... I have never in my life seen ASU play anywhere as physical as they played vs NU.... When Caldwell went down in the 2nd qtr NU was able to run on the dline...

Mark Carrier has done wonders with the secondary.. it was Koetters 5th win in 4 years on the road so im getting a little excited about these guys... but not yet.. iowa is a HUGE test

3rd place should be ASU's

Bgold,

Not sure if you got an answer yet about Oregon. They ran the opening kickoff back for a TD, but it was called back. Clemens promptly fumbled, they fumbled the next two punts and Whitehead fumbled the next series. Indiana puts up 63 yards and 20 points. 23-0 at the half.

They get a TO to start the 2nd half then Clemens throws a pick in the Indy endzone. They cut it to 23-10 then allowed a KO for a TD. They pulled to within 30-24 with 7 or 8 mins. left. Clemens throws two more picks inside the Indy 20 and that was all she wrote.

Indiana blizted Clemens all day and he panicked a couple of times. That probably had a lot to do with the last two picks. They outgained Indiana nearly 500 to around 200, and after the sixth TO they still should have won.

It is hard to say how that will affect Oregon this week. They should be able to score on Oklahoma, but Indiana gave no indication to how good the pass D is. The run D should hold Okie in check and they should get to White a few times. I have to think that is too many points to give the Ducks, but Okie is good. Very good.

That is the long version of the debacle.
