Bounce back week

Oregon-4
Stanford +13.5
Cal +13.5
UCLA -10

Oregon -4 hosting WSU 12:30 pacific

Washington State got the respect they deserved for winning the pac-10 last year finally after beating Colorado in a blowout. Oregon got the respect for piling on Michigan long enough to win s/u. Oregon plays their best football in the 1st half and WSU plays their best in the 2nd half. Oregon has too much fire power on offense and wont letdown at home. Washington State has got to prove themselves on the road this week and I think WSU is a great team, but not going to get it done at Autzen. Play DUCKS -4

Stanford +13.5 at Washington 12:30 pacific

Trent Edwards is getting more attention now that he went to a hostile environment at BYU last week and won the game. This kid is a good ball player and has this team believing in itself for the first time under Buddy Teevens. These two teams haven?t played each other in a while and since Stanford has a lot of freshman they rely on the unfamiliarity is an advantage to Stanford. Washington struggled and was tied with Indiana after one half I believe and lost to Ohio State and beat Idaho. They seem like to me that they are a good team but not a great team. They are at home in this one and that should be enough to win and since Stanford is a young squad Washington wins but doesn?t cover. I like Stanford keeping this one nail bitter close for UW? play Stanford

Cal-Berkeley +13.5 home to USC 3:30 pacific FSN

Cal should have beat USC last year and that says a lot about the coaching staff employed at Cal. Cal is very dangerous at Memorial Stadium and USC better watch themselves as Cal would like nothing more to than to knock off the number 3 team in the nation at their crib. USC must pressure Aaron Rogers, who will see a whole new kind off pressure something he never saw at Chico. We have the two best coaches in the pac-10 here going head to head and will be a great football game to enjoy. Play Cal +13.5

UCLA -10 hosting SDSU 7:00 pacific Fox Sports West 2

San Diego State and head coach Tom ?AIR? Craft had their passing attack grounded for awhile vs SAMFORD last week, the Aztec offense is not doing what Craft would like, but that is expected when you lose the 1-2 WR punch that they had going last year. SDSU gave Ohio State more than a game in Columbus, they could have won. UCLA on the other hand is back page news in this city. The folks out here in Tinsel Town think UCLA sucks. Did they really think they would beat Oklahoma? UCLA and Karl Dorrell are going in the right direction and the offesnse may click with an Aztec defense that is nowhere near as talented as what UCLA saw last week. Craig Bragg will return a punt for a t-d and UCLA will win pretty easily. PLAY UCLA -10

ASU +6 at Ore St 7:00 pacific FSN

ASU has owned Ore St in past match ups and beat them last year in a game in which both defenses dominated. The key to beating Ore St as shown by Fresno was to get a ton of pressure on Derek Anderson. OSU will run run run run and the throw to Ozzie Newsome? that?s a fact? ASU is 21st in the country in rush defense and will get #1 corner RJ Oliver and #1 wideout Darryl Lightfoot who is there only legit wideout. Of course they were both supposed to play last week and Oliver didn?t even make the flight, so who knows if they will play. This is an early must win game for both teams, it wont get any easier for ASU as they host USC next week and then host Oregon the following week.
NO PLAY

Arizona +15 hosting TCU 7:00 pacific

The slew of late games. TCU needs to cutback significantly on making mistakes on offense. This team only put up 28 vs Vandy last week and I do think Arizona?s defense is better than Vanderbilts. Arizona has had some success vs the 4-2-5 defense, but that was last year and this team has more problems than the California Recall. I see this as a 24-10 game for TCU.. so back off this one
NO PLAY

I'm surprised you are on UCLA. I see this game as a play on SDSU or a no play. I actually think UofA has a chance with UCLA in a couple weeks. UCLA's O is so fawking week and SDSU has the number #2 D in the nation. Granted the season is young, but UCLA hasn't done a single thing to impress me this year. I mean 6-3 score to Illni?!?! I took SDSU +12.5 now it back down to +10, BG if you aren't on SDSU I would suggest a no play. :toast:

BG, I two teamed WMU -1 & Ole Miss -1.5 earlier in the week.

Hey bgold-
Gainey Ranch is great. They have a workout facility there that is the best I have ever seen. Or maybe that was McCormick Ranch...all these damn "Ranches" I forget. lol.

Got to like Stanford. UW=No OLine, no running game, and really no defense. I am not a big fan of Stanford's HC, but there team should play them tough, and we get 2 touchdowns to boot.

I like ASU this week, IF Lightfoot and Oliver play. As I have told you before, I think OSU is the most overrated team in the PAC 10 next to UW. If we lose this game, however, that title will go to us. I didn't think losing McDonald was a big deal, but obviously it was. D-Light needs got get his delightful ass on the field and make some plays. Oliver has to play, b/c Anderson will throw some bad passes in this game, as usual, so we need him to make a pick. ASU needs this game. If we lose, I can see us starting 0-3 in the PAC, EASILY. If we win, who knows.

I am with you on Oregon. Wazzu beat Colorado (who I am not impressed with in the least) and played N.D. tight, who got killed the past two weeks. I am not a big fan of Kegel, but there defense is decent. However, 4 points is a cheap lay AT Autzen where Oregon doesn't lose that often. We were 10.5 point dogs at Autzen last year when we beat them, and I think that ASU team is better than this Wazzu team. If Oregon wins by a field goal, hey, we got beat. I'll take my chances.

I am on UCLA becasue I believe they are more talented than sdsu plain and simple and will score on them. I wouldnt judge a team on one game... but if you conclude that UCLA has no offense from the Illini game, then you didnt see it. Craig Bragg and Junior Taylor dropped 2 easy td passes thats 14 points right there and all of a sudden 20 to 3 or 20 to 10 win isnt sounding as badly. Right now UCLA is considered "down by the public" and sdsu is up becasue of the osu game, i think this should be about 14 points spread.
Will call you tommorow spencer

re SDSU/UCLA analysis...

re SDSU/UCLA analysis...

San Diego State has only four offensive TDs vs meaningful competition. So do the Bruins. Pass.

weather in seattle

FWIW, we are having close to record highs and should be 82 on saturday and not a cloud on Lake Washington at kickoff (heat shouldnt be factor b/c shade closes from the high tier of stadium ...

If the UW comes out all geeked and stanford takes a step back then our Trees might fall, but I think Teevens might be a tad tougher ... Glad I got the 14.5 now and hope none of the Palo Alto backers need it ...

as for the rest of the pac-10 im not too excited about any, I could see wsu winning SU or losing by 14 ... I could see usc winning by 21 or struggling for 7 point win ... I could see sd st winning SU (i took them small @ 10.5) or ucla covering late ... i dont like the smell of sun devils seeds but not sure beavs are all that healthy ... zona, jeezus, give bad news bears some leather helmets and it goes OT ... OK, not making many bold pix here I know, riding the Pines/cedars/redwoods/maples/white ash/dogwood TREES

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND

BG,

This week I'm with you on Cal. USC is very overrated in the eyes of the betting public (I talked about this a few weeks ago in another post). They are a solid team, but there's no way that they are 2 TDs better than this Cal team, especially with USC on the road! The USC ass-whuppin' of Hawaii did us some good, and probably bought us 3 or 4 points on the line. I found that Sports Interaction has the line at 14, so my money on Cal went there!

pt1gard,
bruins will win easily in arroyo seco (rose bowl) saturday nite! bruins dominate this series, beat aztecs by 212 points in last 5 meetings. usually this line is much larger like 3 td's. i see value in this line (-10.5, BIG PLAY).
like stanford (med play) to stay within the number, they beat byu with 56 passing yards and allowed byu 4 yards rushing.
wash st. and oregon are very similar in stats, cougar defense is a bit better and more opportunistic on the takeways. i'll take the points and cougs (small play).
GOOD LUCK AND CONTINUE GIVING US THAT N.W. PERSEPECTIVE.

I only play one collge game a week (3-0 so far) and even though I like the Cougs because I'm from the area, I just don't see them beating the Ducks at Autzen. Play for this week is OU -4. Glad to see the Pac -10 guru is with me. GL BG.

a lot of different opinions on the first true week of pac -10 action. UCLA I like more and more along with the Ducks and the Cardinal. Cal/USC is still intriguing to me. Barley said it best about this game... Cal will be ready
