I dont follow Packers nearly as much as Badgers, but they've had 25 years worth of HOF quarterbacks and just 2 rings to show for it. Rodgers has say 3 maybe 4 solid years left. Idk, but id go all in on those 3-4 years and try to win a SB or 2 and deal with some 6-10 years after instead of the 9-7, 10-6 stuff and early playoff exits that it looks like it's gonna be. Jmo, what you guys think?

Get rid or McCarthy. They can re build in a jiffy. Rogers is one of Top 3 in league and can be great again. Agree on posters above on the that Seattle debacle. He's got no guts and his team knows it.

All the finger pointing is at McCarthy? Does he get paid to play? What about Ted Thompson? Doesn't he make the personnel decisions? His drafts the past 3 years have been crap. No depth built and they are a complacent organization. Detroit on paper right now is going to win the NFC Central Division and they suck!! LOL

Green Bay has burnt a lot of folks' money this year, especially the sold out ticket holders!!

Couple of things here:

I don't blame McCarthy for the Seattle loss. He had the perfect game plan. That was when Seattle still had an awesome pass defense (better than it is now). They made Rodgers be a game manager - especially after Rodgers had a couple of early turnovers that cost that Packers points. They had a sound running game plan and it worked - except for 2 problems: one, a defensive back dropped to the ground late in the game on an interception, instead of running it back for another 30-40 yards. This changed the game. Then the onside kick. Uggh! Just stupidity.

Rodgers still has skills, but he is not what he once was. Still better than 1/2 the QB's in the league, but he is not a top guy anymore. He is not a leader. He pouts. He shows up his receivers. His accuracy when throwing the ball, in which I don't think anyone throwing the football was better ever, is now just average. He misses a lot of throws NFL QB's should make.

Don't get me wrong - this is NOT all on Rodgers. But you can't put the team on his back anymore and expect them to win. He does need help. His skills are not what they once were.

Here is something that nobody ever talks about - but I think plays a huge difference in our teams the past 4-5 years. Back in the 2010 NFL draft, the Packers had the 23rd pick. I was screaming to take Dez Bryant - a clear difference maker type of talent (with some concerns about makeup). It was such an obvious pick to pair with Aaron Rodgers (and Bryant had a similar draft day slide as Rodgers did a number of years prior). Instead, Ted Thompson being Ted, he went with the "safe" and boring pick: Bryan Bulaga, an OT. Yes, I know, who the heck is Bryan Bulaga (in fairness, he has been a good OT for the Pack when he hasn't been hurt).

Of course, Dez was taken the very next pick by Dallas - who don't pass up talented players and were willing to take the risk for the substantial upside of Bryant.

That's the problem with T. Thompson - he won't take risks. Rarely will he sign a free agent. He will not trade. He will only build through the draft. And he will not take high upside/risky guys. He only takes solid character guys.

Not that this is bad necessarily, but I think in today's NFL a GM has to be a bit flexible in his approach, to be able to build the best team possible.

Thompson has not done so over the years.

This insight makes a lot of sense....Never understood why they never had a game breaker on the outside....

I've been knocking Thompson on this site since after the super bowl, he hasn't loaded the team like people thought.

The Packers have a tremendous amount of starters hurt and they have no running game.that means Rodgers has to take them on his back and he has no help.they picked up a free agent Wednesday from a Seattle reject I don't think he helped any but they need some. running help, need team to get healed up, then it won't all be on Rodgers and they will be just fine.My opinion and you guys know what those are like....LOL

It all starting falling apart the day Eddie Lacy showed up for the season looking like a donut. Without a good runner, Rogers has tried to do a lot more and honestly his game has slipped. The injuries have not helped, but all teams have seen injury problems. Their defense has been horrible, but the offense can not stay on the field which does not help. McCarthy was never an elite coach, he is a pretty good one and remains so.
