I have spent alot of time looking at this fight coming up on May 2 2009.

After watching and reading up on these two fighters I have come to the conclusion that will
make this a winning wager.

Ricky Hatton is tough and he has the belt.

He has gone away from his brawling bully style to lately a more finesse body shot strong puncher.
Mayweather has alot to do with that.

My prediction is that in this fight, he is going to run into someone faster and with a punch just as strong. Hatton is going to revert back to what he knows.

When that happens then this wager wins.

When Hatton starts the rough house and bullying , Pac is going to knock him the fawk out.

It's like the famous Mike Tyson line about everyone has a plan until they get hit. In this case Ricky has a plan, then the bell rings and he gets hit like he has never before been laid leather to

Oh shit this is in the bag !

This fight will give more action," Pacquiao said when asked how it'll differ from his hammering of De La Hoya. "I feel the same intensity.":scared

Now, however, Pacquiao finds himself as the favorite against Hatton and is regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He has heard the warnings that it's harder to stay on top than to get there. "I keep myself on an even keel," he said. "I just always believe in God and say my prayers."

His trainer, Freddie Roach, has pushed sparring partners to ensure that Pacquiao's not slipping. Roach offered unbeaten super-featherweight Urbano Antillon and junior-welterweight Mike Alvarado (each 25-0 with 18 KOs) a $1,000 bonus if they could knock down Pacquiao in sparring. No one has been paid.:00hour

Roach said he has been pleased with Pacquiao's training -- which also includes advice from the Wild Card's new assistant trainer, former heavyweight world champion Michael Moorer -- and said the boxer's training has resulted in improved strength.

Ricky is going down in this fight, much like he did in the loss to Mayweather.

I had trouble with the over / under so I am going with what I believe is the sure payday and that is
Pac to win .

Speaking of toddler basketball, I did well with my rare foray into kids hoops, finished 7-3, and did a great analysis/selection show on NC beating Mich St in the final, using a boxing analogy you guys would appreciate. In reference to their 1st game when NC beat them by 35:

"In boxing, there are two kinds of rematches:

The first type of rematch is where a fluke is corrected, where the loser of the first bout took his opponent lightly, didn't train properly, got caught off guard and now comes for revenge. Lennox Lewis vs. Hasim Rahman for example.

The second type of rematch is where it?s a case of second verse, same as the first. For example, when Ali knocked out heavyweight champ Sonny Liston, or Forrest beating Mosley.

So which type will the Michigan State vs. North Carolina rematch be: fluke revenged, or second verse, same as the first?

Make no mistake about it - the Spartans were knocked out in the first meeting. It wasn?t a 12 round decision. It wasn?t a TKO, where the ref or doctor stopped it.

It was a mouth-piece-sent-flying, legs-turned-to-jello, "hello-canvas? kind of KO.

It was a ?How-many-fingers-am-I-holding-up? answered with ?Eleven?? kind of knockout."

I cleaned up on those boys in the big game.

Cool part about doing video analysis on boxing - I get to demonstrate what I think might hapeen, visually instead of just using words in a column. For example, the JMM/Diaz bout, I did a piece on camera showing how Diaz jabs and ducks in, and then I played the JMM part and showed how he would counter this with uppercuts, which are one of his specialties.
When we're done doing test shows and begin the real ones I'll send Jack a link.

Anway, just stopped by today to add a caveat, for those that might disagree the Manny fight was a career definer. True, it would be ridiculously unfair based on Oscar's other achievements, but for point of reference, I give you this:

How many boxing fans know (w/out looking it up)who Roberto Duran beat for the lightweight title?

OK, now how many non-Spanish speaking fans know what "no mas" means?

It's not fair, but life often isn't . . .

Thanks to the guys here who add opinions, yeah Frank, it's a little serious, but very active and most importantly informative, and largely w/out the ego's and testosterone overflow you see at less mature sites. Lots of good 2-way info here, simply the best boxing forum on the net.

Like all Filipinos, I was excited about Manny Pacquiao winning his fight last Saturday in Las Vegas. Aside from being one of the greatest boxers, he?s now proving that he may be a super hero too. Newspapers in the Philippines are saying that during his fights, there are absolutely no crimes in the Philippines; even the criminals are watching TV! And if you?ve ever been to Manila, you know a crimeless Manila, even for a few hours, truly is a wonder to behold!

When pressed for the reason behind several hours? peace in Metro Manila yesterday, Barias said ?the people, even criminals, stayed in their respective homes to watch the fight.? Pacquiao won by knockout in the ninth round.
...............................................................

All that talant and he is a crime fighter too.

how do you go against a guy like this.

its one thing to talk about a fight

its quite another to post a winning wager

there is nothing pretty about the fight game, nothing.
