Hey Cris ..
Ran across this article in our local northern Illinois paper a couple weeks back and meant to post it right away but put it aside. This age thing (like your buddy Jack)kurby wouldn't let me recall where I put the damn thing :mj03: :0006
Just curious if you've ever fished this lake. I'm quite sure you have. Would love to have you do some 'smallie' fishing with me in Canada some day. Wouldn't recommend your fiberglas boat tho. Too many reefs :scared
Anyways ...
Big fish found in low Texas lake
(from the Associated Press) LUBBOCK, Texas -- One desperately low lake in drought-stricken West Texas is producing some big fish.
Wildlife officials say two Texas anglers have recently landed bass weighing more than 13 pounds apiece from the O.H. Ivie Reservoir. The lake 200 miles southwest of Dallas is just 17 percent capacity due to the record drought.
The most recent catch came April 6 when Kyle Johnson of Abilene caught a 13.36-pound largemouth that was 27.5 inches long and 20 inches in girth. Johnson caught the fishi using a jig lure in water about 4 feet deep
On March 25, Stacy Brookings of Midland caught a pure Florida bass that weighed 13.22 pounds and was 26.5 inches long with a 20-inch girth. Larry Hodge with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's freshwater fisheries center said the two men's fish aren't flukes out of that lake and more could come from the lake, which when full covers 119,149 acres.
Yikes!! That be some mighty big fish. Go getcha one of those 13-pounders :0074
