I'm getting some epidural cervical steroid injections.

Fairly certain I'm the only non pillhead here, the only non-smoker, and also pretty sure nobody else has a job.

I must be a lot tougher than the majority of the population. I could get disability with all my neck and back diagnosed problems, but I think that would suck. I'm glad it's there for people who are truly disabled, but shit, the majority of people I run into could be working. It's bs, and it really gets me going when I constantly see it abused.

True story... A few months ago, I was taking care of a 22 year old. Her sister and brother n law stayed with her. They were from a ridge in Cumberland County (dukedom). They would lay on the floor, in her bed, etc. they all wore wife beaters. You pretty much had to step over them to care for the patient, and the room straight up smelled like ass.

I was fed up one night with their constant requests for coca cola and snacks, their BO, and their obtrusiveness. I asked the brother in law and sister how they were able to stay so much. I said, "don't you all have jobs you need to get back to?" They said no, we're on disability. these were two able bodies people both less than 30. How in the hell are they disabled. Pretty sure it was from psych issues, and ill have to stop before I start another rant.:sadwave:

I just had to endure them and their wife beaters and their ass smell until her sister went home.

I don't know how they do it. Housing, new cars, food, etc.

Don't forget the 2 packs of premium cigarettes each day either.

In my opinion, we are starting the third generation of people who have never worked and get government checks and assistance now. Grandma, mom, and child all have never worked. It's fukin insane. It makes my blood pressure rise thinking about it. Fuk all these deadbeats and the system that facilitates their behavior.

You ever put a smell-good in your mask to cover their scent? I have flavoring scents for my nitrous noses and sometimes I put a drop in my ask if a parent smells like ass. It's quite pleasant. :mj07:

The people who abuse SSI really make it bad for people who really need it.
Couple of weeks ago I pulled in a gas station near work about 9:00 AM & seen I guy who use to work for us ( carrying 6-pack of beer ) we talked for awhile & he mentioned he was on disability for his back. He asked me if there was any chance he could come back & work for cash. This guy can lunp furniture all day but can't work because of a bad back. What a piece of shit !

Today I was the patient.

I worked last week in so much pain I literally looked like an old man sometimes bent over at the waist. I take no pain meds, so yes, I always perform my duties responsibly. I can vent a little on here though, can't I? I'm also very good about being tactful and without saying what I really think say what I really think. If I am pushed, I can sometimes be a little bit of a smart ass though (usually with physicians lol). I said to a doctor last week, "you know, you really are a smartass". :mj07: I didn't get an email or call to the office, so I guess it's all good.

I respect that you try to work through the pain. I too have been told I could get put on disability for my back. I've never missed a day of work, ever.

I guess I just don't want to live like that. I'm not sure I agree with everything you say there, though. I will take pain killers now and then and don't consider myself a "Pill head". I can't take them before I go to work, but some nights I do take them.

As much as you detest all the "free" stuff the welfare recipients get, would you really want to trade places with them? All things considered, I bet most of them would trade places with you.

Sorry Penguinfan. To clarify, I would not consider you a pill head. I'm talking about all the clowns zoned out on Lortabs and Xanax who don't need them and are in far less pain than me and I'm sure you. I detest this whole system and I think it's bs. Why can't able bodied people get a fuking job?

On this much we certainly agree. I'm going to work as long as I can, hopefully to retirement.

I can sympathize when you talk about walking around bent over at the waist. I spend a lot of days like that and it sucks. Just getting out of bed is a chore some days.

I've had on surgery and I'm not at all anxious to go through it again.

Best wishes on getting yours under control.

Maybe you guys should take pills and collect ss disibility.......just think how bad these ailments are going to be in 10-20-30 years.

I'm not saying it won't come to that for me, I just don't want it to and right now I can still get around with minimal pain killers and only the occasional use of a cane.

Who knows, in 10 years maybe they will be able to fix this sort of thing. 15 years ago there was no cure for a limp pecker, and look at you now!

30 million men use them. I swear by the blue pill, it's rocket fuel.
