Here are some responses....all from Muslims.
Interestingly enough, NONE are in support of the Taliban or terrorism. So, maybe not all who follow Islam are the same. Who knew? *sarcasm*
1 - the problem is really one of human nature. Even terrorists have families-brothers, cousins, sisters, uncles... kill a terrorist and all it does and spreads hate-and then they become terrorists hoping to even the score. Between that and Recruiters perverting the true message of islam and manipulating words such as "Jihad" or "martyrdom" to trick the uneducated into thinking that the true enemy of islam is liberalism. This problem cannot be solved through bloodshed, only diligent education and compromise. That's why schools have become targets worldwide (Nigeria first, now this): ideological reversion of the twisted beliefs these people want to enforce on the world is the answer- and they know it. Teach someone the true meanings of Jihad or martyrdom and these movements would hold no sway over the people they have now. Ignorance is not just the enemy, it is the fuel of every radical expansion.
2 - It isn't that easy. The military is attempting to eliminate them - this attack was revenge from the Taliban for the military's renewed efforts in the North/along the Afghanistan border. There's a lot of corruption in the country amongst the politicians. I wouldn't say that there is an infinite number of Taliban supporters - just look at all the reactions from the Pakistanis across social media: none of us want anything to do with this. Check out Malala and what she says for a better answer to your questions. (she just won a Noble Peace Prize, was attacked in the past)
There are a lot more factors but I really can't claim to be an expert on this.
/and now I need to get back to my...
3 - even though I do not know you, I am glad you actually asked for clarification rather than just assume things and so I would like to present my point of view! (This is kind of long but I feel strongly about this issue)
I am from Pakistan and I assure you that 99% of Pakistanis are outraged and disgusted by the Taliban and do NOT support them. We have suffered greatly at the hands of these savages and lost more than 35,000 innocent lives as well as $70 billion from our economy due to the war on terror. This was basically a political war between the Soviets and the US over Afghanistan. Unfortunately, Pakistan got involved and the CIA is the organization that actually trained the Taliban to fight against the Soviets (Hilary Clinton also admitted this on TV). According to me, what really went wrong was that after 9/11, instead of highlighting the political motives of Osama Bin Laden, the media blamed religion. And that is why today, it is so easy for the Taliban to use their twisted version of Islam to emotionally blackmail and lure young and fragile minds into their trap and make them believe that they are waging ?Jihad? against the West. Another factor that has contributed to a rise in the number of Jihadis is drone attacks. Instead of trying to resolve issues through dialogue or at most carrying out targeted operations against the terrorists, drone attacks were preferred, which killed infinitely many more civilians than terrorists. And when an innocent person is killed, their family members automatically turn against the West and turn into militants to take revenge and there is no reasoning with them. As a result, today we have more than 50 different Taliban groups when we only started out with 1! Anyway, the current government is corrupt, unpopular and incompetent but the Pakistan military is carrying out a targeted operation in the north-west and the school attack in Peshawar was in retaliation to that. Let?s hope the operation is successful and these fear mongers rot in Hell!
4 - Bro, your point is so damn true . But really ,we are all sitting ducks in this world, where these terrorists spread fear and violence !!.R.I.P to all those innocent children who have perished in this terrible school attack.
Peace!
