I Judge Kerry's actions by the words of his peers that were present and fought in battle with him.
PT Boat Veterans For Truth
August 30, 2004
By Tom Barrett
If John F. Kennedy had lied about his service on PT boats, I'm sure a group of PT Boat Veterans would have vocally opposed his presidential bid - and he probably would have lost. So it should be no surprise to JFK-wannabe John F. Kerry that the men who know him best have emerged to oppose his presidency. And history will probably show their courage in telling the truth about Kerry to be a large factor when he loses this election.
The Democrat Party Line today is, "Who cares what happened 30 years ago? Who cares about John Kerry's service in Viet Nam or Bush's service in the National Guard?" Excuse me, Liberals. YOU were the ones who raised both subjects. And now your underhanded tactics are backfiring on you.
The Democrats accused Bush of being AWOL during his term of service. Bush quickly authorized the release of ALL of his service records, and the Democrats were proved to be liars. The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth have raised serious and credible questions about John Kerry's service in Viet Nam. Yet he refuses to release all the records that could prove or disprove the Swifties' charges (just as he refuses to release his record of attendance - actually, non-attendance - at Senate Intelligence Committee meetings). His spokespeople SAY that he has released all his records, and tell us to go to his website to see them. But they hope you will trust their word and won't actually go there, because if you do, you will see that he has withheld the documents that would prove him a liar.
And of course it was the Democrats, not the Republicans, who made Kerry's measly four months in Viet Nam the centerpiece of their entire campaign. Bush has never raised the issue. In fact, he very graciously said that Kerry served honorably in Viet Nam. But Kerry spent 90% of his convention time playing up Viet Nam. HE made Viet Nam an issue. And now he is complaining that Viet Nam is an issue!
A group of veterans who served with Kerry called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has come out with a series of ads that tell an entirely different story than Kerry does about his service in Viet Nam. Interestingly, of all the officers who served with Kerry on Swift Boats during his short tour, only a tiny percentage supports his candidacy for the presidency.
Twenty days after Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ads came out, Kerry has finally answered them. His answer: no answer. Instead of answering their charges, he chose to attack George Bush! Offering absolutely no proof, he accused Bush of sponsoring the ads. This is a very common liberal tactic, by the way. When they can't answer a question, they try to divert attention by attacking. Since he can't savage the Swifties the way he would like to (after all, they are highly decorated veterans, and that wouldn't play well with the public), he attacks Bush, who himself has already denounced the ads!
Why DID Bush denounce the Swift Boat Veterans ads? It certainly wasn't because their assertions are not true. It's just that Bush doesn't do business that way. He wants to talk about the issues. Kerry SAYS he wants to discuss the issues, but he and his buddy, fellow multi-billionaire George Soros, have been running attack ads against President Bush for the last year. Bush has publicly challenged Kerry to denounce ALL attack ads, as Bush himself has. Kerry has only denounced the ads that tell the truth about him.
There are two very interesting side notes to this whole Swift Boat Veterans for Truth issue. First, Kerry obviously doesn't believe in freedom of speech. According to media reports, he has put pressure on booksellers, including Amazon.com, to refuse to sell decorated veteran John O'Neill's book, "Unfit for Command." By the way, Mr. O'Neill has been variously accused by the Kerry campaign of:
A) Writing the book for money (isn't that why most books written?); and
B) Of coming up with these charges at the last minute because Kerry is running for president.
Kerry knows that both these charges are untrue, but he also knows that if you repeat unfounded charges often enough some people will believe them. So he continues the lies. The facts are that:
A) O'Neill is donating all proceeds from the book to charity. He didn't write the book for profit - he wrote it for principle.
B) O'Neill brought the exact same charges up against Kerry over thirty years ago after Kerry denounced US servicemen as "baby killers and rapists". In fact, O'Neill debated (and soundly defeated) Kerry on national television on the subject.
This has been a bad week for John Kerry. He had used John McCain in a campaign smear ad against Bush without McCain's permission. McCain made Kerry pull the ad. Then Bob Dole, who is respected by both sides as a fair man, revealed that Kerry had called him about the Swift Boat ads. Dole reminded him that attack ads were being run by both Liberals and Conservatives. He suggested that Kerry and Bush talk, and that both agree to try to stop the so-called "soft money" ads being run by independent groups. Kerry told Dole the only ones he was interested in stopping were the Swift Boat ads, which have hurt him badly in the polls. The fact that Kerry supporters, led by Billionaire George Soros have spent twenty-five times the money on attack ads that the Swift Boat Veterans have spent meant nothing to Kerry.
The third blow was that a phone call he made to retired Admiral Roy Hoffman on March 15, 2004 has come to light. The Admiral told the Associated Press this very interesting story?
John Kerry called him to complain about the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. He asked the Admiral for his help in smearing the veterans so that the public would not believe their version of events. The Admiral told Kerry that he was still furious with him over the lies he told Congress about the servicemen fighting in Viet Nam. He told reporters that Kerry's statements were played to prisoners of war in Vietnamese prisons, and caused them to be demoralized and treated even worse by the sadistic Viet Cong. He clearly stated, "Kerry betrayed us in 1971" when he characterized US servicemen as baby killers and rapists, knowing these were lies.
The tide has turned. George Soros said he would spend all his Billions to defeat Bush and put his boy Kerry in the White House. And for a while their vicious smear ads were working. The President's ratings were down because many Americans simply believe anything they hear over and over, without stopping to wonder who was spending the tens of millions of dollars to run the ads.
Now a small group of courageous veterans has emerged to tell America the truth about Kerry. They were courageous in Viet Nam, and they are courageous today because they know that 85% of reporters are Kerry supporters. They knew they would be treated unfairly in the media because they had watched those same reporters lavish praise on Michael Moore's ridiculous Fahrenheit 9-11 pack of lies.
Because of their courage, millions of Americans are thinking twice about voting for the vain hypocrite John Kerry. They are starting to understand that he cannot claim to be a Viet Nam War Hero after admitting to Congress that he committed war crimes that were, in his own words, "?violations of the Geneva Conventions." They are starting to wonder why he is running for president instead of being prosecuted for the war crimes he has admitted to. And they are rightly questioning whether a man who betrayed his own comrades at arms can ever be trusted as Commander-in-Chief of the mightiest military in the world.
