When Hockey mom and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin "dropped the ceremonial first puck at the Flyers' opener on Saturday night at the Wachovia Center, she was greeted by resounding (almost deafening) boos," the New York Times reports.

The Wilmington News Journal says "it seemed like there was an avalanche of boos when she walked out -- boos that were almost immediately drowned out by blaring, bombastic music."

Hockey moms should be safe in hockey towns. What is this world coming to?

They boo Santa Claus in Philly. I think the only person they've ever cheered is Rocky. Yes, very bad move.

Take that lying trash to one of those hick towns. Philly doesn't fall for that gullible shit. :mj07: Drill baby drill. She is lucky she didn't get drilled. It is nice to live in a progressive state.

She should have been a Soccer or Baseball Mom. There is more of them. Yes In a way I felt sorry for her younger daughter that her mom should have none better to bring with. Boo's were heavy.

Every politician gets booed at every sports event. They should never show up there besides sitting in a box as quiet as can be. The reason is people go to sports events to get away from that world. I've never heard a politician get a warm reception from a crowd. Even if it is on the good side, it's luke warm at best.

The most memorable was when Governor Pete Wilson gave the opening speech at the 1994 world cup in LA at the rose bowl .The game was between 2 latin teams and he was just coming off his prop 187 platform. You couldn't hear a single word over the boos, it was hilarious.

Here is what happen from a few people who went to the game. She got heavily booed by about 75 percent of the crowd so they blasted the music to try an drown out the boos. The boy's said they never ever heard the music played so loudly at the Wachovia Center. :142smilie What really surprises me is she was booed at all because those tickets are ridiculously expensive. As we know from even this thread the only people who have any money in this country are Republicans. I guess even her own base knows she is a complete fraud.

George F'ing Bush came to Great American Ballpark in 2006 to throw out the first pitch and got a standing ovation. That is how screwed up and idiotic the people of southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky remain.

I can almost guarantee you that if Bush or Cheney came here in 2009 to throw out the first pitch at Great American Ball Park on opening day, they would get a standing ovation by the right wing nutbags who populate this region. I live in the most draconian, regressive part of the country.

Raymond is from Philadelphia and apparently the Flyers fans have gotten the idea. Wayne is from Kentucky which is my part of the country. Kentucky is Mitch McConnell and Geoff Davis country. Like I said draconian, regressive and very racial. kkk land.

I'm not sure where you are from Sponge other than under the sea.

Actually its completely false.

Not every politician is booed at every sporting event.

All I need to is find one of many examples to prove its false.

And one would be Rudy at the NYG game after 9/11.

Its false.

ok whatever dude, would you be happy if i changed my statement to say, politicians are significantly booed more of the time at sporting events, unless:

a. its after the biggest tragedy in US history
b. you are in a vastly predominant area aligned with the politician in question

man some people are such ball breakers, and deep inside they probably actually agree with the intent of the statement
