Well it shouldnt be that way. Heaven forbid the media show some restraint. Even Obama says it isnt an issue but the media just cant help themselves.

CNN just had a 10 minute debate about whether they should even discuss the issue. Umm...wouldnt you do that off the air if you were really debating it?

It will probably backfire on the Dems if much gets made of this ...Obama's media friends arent doing him any favors this time, but they probably believe they are.

doesn`t look good when you`re on video saying that having a child is "punishment"....

mccain`s maverick bullshit alienated his base...stuff like this just consolidates it...

and btw....since when does context mean anything?...mccain`s gonna "be in iraq for 1,000 years"....

right?...

Well, depending on the situation, a 15, 16, 17 year old girl becoming pregnant could be considered 'punishment.' Maybe it's a harsh word, but not so out of line.

Punishment for a family that can't afford the baby. Etc.. etc...Punishment for the young lady that got herself into this situation.

It comes down to pro-life and pro-choice. Simple as that.

McCains comment about being in Iraq for 100 years has been misrepresented, I agree with that.

This is exactly the problem. I've gone 15 rounds and then some with conservative friends who want to completely disregard the context of every statement Obama makes. They're still whining about the "bitter/clinging" statement, completely disregarding that it was a statement about the failures of our current economic policies. Or they spin statements Obama's made about religion into attacks on Christianity, when it reality he was speaking to the importance of the seperation of church and state. They completely disregarded the context of his statements and spin them into something they're not. Context is everything.

In saying that Obama's statement "doesn't look good", you're doing the same thing -- ignoring the context. Once again, it's a statement about behavoir and consequences. It has nothing to do with the value of human life. But then conservatives often reduce political issues to sound bites, don't they?

Families for the most part are off limits. Children, especially are off limits. This has absolutely nothing to do with Palin's lack of experience, and general lack of readiness to be POTUS. Politically, this lady could be Cheney's twin sister. She is as right wing as they come and she should be evaluated and assessed strictly on her stances and ability to lead. Thank goodness this 17 yr. old with child lives in a home that is far more stable and economically viable than most 17 yr. old's with child (Britney's sister).

..............................................................

Its not irrelevant. It stands to character and family morality and beliefs.

why is it not relevant ?

If it is relevant then what about this......

"Let me remind everyone that Obama was born when his mother was 18 - and there is question as to whether she was married at the time of conception!"

Maybe the reason Obama came out and said attacking the 17 yr old was "out of bounds"......
Maybe this issue might have up blown up in his face as his own birth is dangerously close to that very scenario.
