Quarterback Carson Palmer will play one series against the Chiefs in the preseason opener Saturday evening in Glendale. Palmer won?t play more than that, even if the ?series? lasts ?one play, three plays or 10 plays,? Coach Bruce Arians said. Drew Stanton will play through the first quarter, with Logan Thomas playing the second and third and Phillip Sims playing the fourth quarter.

Some young quarterbacks in the NFL are being praised for having few passes intercepted in training camp. But Palmer, in his 13th season, uses camp to learn things about teammates, defenses and offensive plays. So he doesn?t get too upset if a pass is intercepted.

?There are certain coverages that come up that you want to see, ?Is this feasible to try and get his ball in there or do I need to take my check-down?? There are certain guys you give opportunities, let?s see what happens you give him a chance to make a play on one of those 50-50 balls. Some of it is trying to figure out, 'Am I being greedy? Or can I really take this shot?? That?s why we?re here (in camp) right now.?
