Gunmen killed 12 people in an attack Wednesday in the offices of the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, the worst such attack in France in at least 40 years.
That sort of thing happens in the US every other day, lately. The world seems to be going to hell.
Man, don't think like that! The murder rate in the USA is less than HALF what it was in 1980. This is one of the safest time's to be alive in the history of mankind.
This is a horrible event though. I feel almost worse about this than I have in the past when terrorists struck military targets (USS Cole etc), Government Installations (Embassies) or Financial Targets (WTC etc.). There is a certain sense to those attacks.
This is a direct attack on free thought and expression.
Bad bad.
Interestingly, for me, I work in the same office building that houses the French Consulate. Things are a bit tense.
