Not sure how your US books work (they do some very strange things, imo!!)....

...but ANY parlay should be ALL the legs multiplied together.

ie.

ML: 2.25
over: -120...= 1.83 (100/120)

Parlay equals 2.25*1.83 = ~4.12.

Speaking of US books, you do realise that this -120, -110 system is actually costing you money, right?

What I mean is that by betting 110 to win 100 (which the US system encourages you to do), you are losing $$ compared to everyone else in the world who is betting 100 to win 91.

Why?...Well it's absolutely no different IF you keep playing odds-on. (ie. - numbers)...
..BUT...as soon as you play a ML dog (eg. +150), you then bet 100 to win 150, rather than the 110 you have been betting previously.

It does add up in the long run.

Just as an example....
..3 bets. 2.50 (+150), 1.91 (-110) & 1.80 (-125)

Most US players will bet: 100 to win 150, 110 to win 100 & 125 to win 100....Thus, risking 330 to win 350. Equals 1.06 return

International players: 100 to win 150, 100 to win 91, 100 to win 80...Risks 300 to win 321....1.07 return

As I said, it comes down to betting THE SAME AMOUNT each bet...by betting 10 less when playing dogs (again, as the US system encourages), you are losing $$ in the long run. ;)

it's called a flat bet you can lay 100 to win 90.90 laying the -110 brings you back 100 not many flat bet and this is nv, I flat bet and sometimes i lay the juice in other sports roi is not a care of mine, it is blown up to much only roi is cashing a ticket at the end of the day it is only juice if you lose, was taught that long time ago.

very nice break down mr.c not saying you but people make things way harder then they need to be in sports handicapping, hell you would think some people are splitting atoms, see it all the time out here a guy comes into make a bet with a note book so big you would think he had the Watergate files in it, and they lose most of the time, if you see the big note book man with paper falling all over the place hell bet opp what he did and chances are your ticket will be the one that cashes, your not building a rocket, the kiss method is always the best, you need to know the sports before you can beat them long term, paper and stats and numbers from a number geek is not going to pay the house payment 9 times out of 10 with all his stupid numbers and stats.

like i said this is not about you but about what i see out here every day, and most of the time they are 50-100 buck players tops. but hey it is their money and time wasted not mine so to each their own. I will collect my winning way more then not while rocket boy is playing with numbers and stats on last time qb or pitcher a took a dump before game time and what his was the out come of the game for his team. There are a few things you look for in each sport and if you know them you can win by keeping it simple and looking at games like a college or pro coach does as they scout and prepare for their next opp. You might see lot of charts baseball more then any but they are really not that hard from a coaching stand point they are tendency charts, if you know the building blocks like a advance scout in baseball,fb or hoops you will win more then you lose. It only takes a few blocks to build a house the footer and main row after that it is just repetition.

Now that i have you all lost :DI am sure have a great day is it summer yet for you or spring?

Mr. Christo,

The systems are the same. You don't have to lay the juice. The reason that the ROI in your example is higher is because a higher percentage of the total amount wagered went to the +150 dog.

I can totally understand the humour in all that!

We have 'shops' called the TOTE, pretty much exclusively horse racing, but yeah....Same kind of guys, smoking their lungs out trying to keep 4 different newspapers/form guides and tip sheets from flying all over the room!
As you say, whatever does it for them I guess!

Still about a month of crappy weather to come here, things usually heat up December through Feb...Although down here in Tas, 3 months of summer is usually too much to ask for! :cursin:

BBC, I just got the impression most people did. I have accounts at a couple of US (well, off shore obviously) books, and things just seem a little different! :D (Set prices for parlays...different teaser prices and rules..Just takes a bit of getting used to!)

But as fletcher says, you pick winners, none of it matters that much. (Which seems to be abit of a problem for me recently! :142lmao: )
