opener, but don't look for a repeat in tonight's
match-up. Chris Capuano has had his ups and
downs in 2011, and he's been far less effective
away from CitiField (4.34 ERA in 12 starts). He
will have a difficult time at ATT Park taking on
an SF team that is 17-6 vs. lefthanders in 2011
(+$1015). Tim Lincecum has been roughed up
on a few occasions, but still boasts a 3.15 ERA
after 18 starts. Look for him to even the series
under favorable circumstances.

With long reliever Brad Bergesen injured, Simon will be on a longer leash than usual, but a pitcher of his caliber needs to be on a short leash, and also needs a good bullpen behind him, which Baltitmore does not have. Meanwhile, John Lackey is looking for the first-half finish line to come up, straining towards it with an elbow problem. He has allowed 21 hits in his last 13 1/3 innings over 3 starts.
