ObamaCare Could Bankrupt America, AARP Makes Billions

This has many older Americans, including AARP members, perplexed. How could an agency that claims to be the voice of American seniors actively support a program that will harm many of them? This has caused many AARP members to sever their ties to the group and seek out other benefits organizations that serve the over-50 population.

that's the Rush L and Hannity scare tactics

face facts. They are so afraid costs will come down and things will work out the GOP is shitting their pantys

Seriously that is the only thing that makes sense.

If this was going to be such an incredible failure the republicans would let it happen then use it in the next election and every election after to help them win.

Shutting down the government may end up costing Republicans control of the House of Representatives.

A series of polls released Sunday show just how damaging the shutdown has been for the GOP. The liberal-leaning Public Policy Polling compiled two dozen surveys, commissioned and paid for by MoveOn.org Political Action, from House districts around the country, taken from Oct. 2 through Oct. 4. Sample sizes were between 600 and 700 voters in each district.

For Democrats to win a House majority, 17 seats would need to switch to their party's favor. Results show that would be within reach, as Republican incumbents are behind in 17 of the districts analyzed: CA-31, CO-06, FL-02, FL-10, FL-13, IA-03, IA-04, IL-13, KY-06, MI-01, MI-07, MI-11, NY-19, OH-14, PA-07, PA-08, WI-07. In four districts, the incumbent Republican fell behind after respondents were told their representative supported the government shutdown: CA-10, NY-11, NY-23, VA-02. Three districts saw GOP incumbents maintain their hold over their Democratic challengers, even after hearing their elected officials' views on the shutdown, including CA-21, NV-03 and OH-06.

Back in 2012, Democrats picked up eight seats in the House, closing the gap of Republican control to 234-201

Mags claims that insurance companies only make 3%. Insurance companies try to fuck the people, seen it time and time again. They make caring for people frustrating when they tie our hands

I "claim" that they make 3%?

You all think that is BS - because Obama taught you to hate insurance companies.

Use your computer do to just a little research and you can find the facts and stop being so damn stupid and believing Obama....

I had said 3-4%... here is an article by an established source that showed 3.56% in 2010 - which has gone down as the ACA has been implemented...

You guys are like sheep. Believe anything without even looking it up.

It's almost like thinking the Lions were going to beat the Packers today... kinda shows you not to trust in BP....:mj07:

Shawn - it is only an "incredible failure" for the middle class, who do not get taxpayers subsidies for the handouts given to the folks who do not work.

It is a great deal for those who do not work or are uneducated and can't find work. But pity those who work there butt off, have 2 jobs, but don't quality for subsidies. Those are the folks that we are making pay much higher premiums - in many cases 100% more or greater, for this great handout program.

BP - you do sadden me. Such a negative comment. You could have easily done a web search and found that 3%-4% was true, instead of tying to brand me a liar. Which isn't the case, of course.

You seemed like a decent guy, even with being a Viking fan. But comments like that make me realize that you don't care about the facts, unless they support your liberal point of view. It's sad - but so many of the liberals don't face reality.

And insurance companies haven't been screwing people all these years (and no, I don't work for one). Think about it - all these fat people in WI who don't take care of theirself, and have diabetes and high blood pressure. Then they want to go to insurance companies and say "I want to pay a low premium so you can pay my bills". These are all things a person can control - weight, drinking, exercise and smoking. But few do.

Burn your house down, and then go try to find a home insurer (provided you didn't have insurance) and ask them to write you a policy AND pay for your house you just burned down. Of course they wouldn't do it.

Get 3 DUI's (pretty common in the northern part of the state) but demand to pay the lowest premium possible, because it is unfair to have that held against you... ya, not happening.

But people don't want to be held accountable for their health status. Ridiculous!

"Senator, isn?t there something wrong when you say "I won?t fund the government unless I can attach my personal wish list to the legislation every time we vote? I?d love to see the government find a cure for cancer, but I don?t think you can say I?m not going to pass and pass any funds for the rest of the government until the NIH finds a cure for cancer.

That'd be great. Maybe we could all see why you're so angry.

Do you honestly think that you're subsidizing anything?

Yes. Does the exact money that come sout of my paycheck amount to a ton of subsides for any one individual? No, but that's not how the process works. Take my money and the money they take from millions like me and that is how all this is paid for.

So yes, I am paying my part which is more and more every year to fund things the gov't should be paying for another way.

Yeah I hate insurance companies, absolutely hate them, they FUCK the people. Obama had nothing to do with it. I learned to hate insurance companies from day 1 on the job. The shit they do, is fucking incredible and they are able to get away with it.

Yeah Calvin went down before the game started. If he had been in there Detroit covers and has a chance to win. Be like the Vikings playing without AP or Pack playing without Rodgers. Changed the whole game and the entire game plans.

Where do I call you a liar? KOD comes in and says the insurance companies line the pockets of the GOP, I say that you claim insurance companies only make 3 - 4 % I was hoping KOD was going to respond.

Now back to insurance companies fucking the people. Yes they do, their profits may not be as high as people think but they help drive up hospital costs/expenses. More nursing hours just to name one, plus they alter patient care, many people who work in hospitals, nurses and doctors can't stand insurance companies cause they try to limit patient care and you can't deny that.

Recently, information has surfaced that could explain the AARP?s stance on national healthcare. According to a House Ways and Means report, the AARP stands to make an estimated $1 billion ? perhaps much more ? over ten years if the president?s healthcare plan remains in place. This is surely an incentive for the AARP to support the plan, even though it could hurt seniors and Baby Boomers.

I call BS on this. Carriers cannot offer a deductible higher than $5000 on the exchange and out of pocket limits cannot be higher than $6350 (total of deductible and coinsurance). A deductible over $10k is not possible on any exchange.

You're so full of shit Mags. You can keep spinning that bullshit like you have all the facts but you don't. Some of us do read up on it and while the AHIP would like us to think that they are making a meager 4.4% that simply isn't true. Last week the NYT reported that insurance companies have reported increasingly excessive profits over the last ten years. They report the 4.4% in order to shift focus away from their return on equity, which is reported at a 16.1% average. Do you really think you are the only mother fucker on here that can read? You keep selling that bullshit and you keep parroting the Republican talking points and just go right on thinking that nobody on here can prove how full of shit you are. You talk to my friend BP like he is some kind of fucking dickhead and then mask it with your football bullshit, I don't like it one bit. If you need me to add some links, and there are many, to prove how full of shit you are just say the fucking word. Otherwise, start treating people with some respect or go back to lurking. I liked you a helluva lot more when you didn't show your fucking ass day in and day out.
Also, I will listen to the President any and every day over listening to you. He's the fucking President and you are what? A shill? Sooooooooooo sick of your condescending attitude man. You pissed me the fuck off. BleedingPurple might be the most stand up and solid guy on this forum and you act as if he is your house boy. What the fuck is wrong with you? You are the one that believes everything you hear as long as you hear from Beck, Limbaugh, FoxNews or what ever else Right wing bullshit maker you follow.

Hope this helps,
FDC
