P. Val breaks three ribs

Jockey Patrick Valenzuela sustained three fractured ribs on Sunday when he was kicked in the paddock by Gotta Getcha, his mount in the fifth race.
It is uncertain how long Valenzuela will be sidelined.
The incident occurred as Valenzuela was climbing aboard Gotta Getcha. The colt "cow-kicked" Valenzuela on his right side, trainer Doug O'Neill said. Valenzuela sat on the ground for several minutes before rising and walking into an ambulance. He was taken to a local hospital, where the diagnosis was made.
Through Sunday, Valenzuela was tied for third in the standings of the Hollywood Park fall meeting with 14 wins.
