Just saw the news on tv, flipped cars, numerous fires, many injured at the stadium due to pushing/shoving, damaged properties, broken windows, and many confrontations with the police...

OSU fans get my vote as the DINKS of the day......

here we go again come on people,.. kids will be kids,... todays youth are never mind jeez check out some of the behavior on this board we didn't burn any cars in here but still some of the attitudes and stands taken and words where very caustic. I am not saying these actions are proper, I was rasied to respect other peoples property. Where are those values today. It just happens to be Columbus OH this time but the scene is often the same in many other cities. I am about done typing about this I have an NFL card to finish if I am gonna have a shot at catching Kosar :)

Gibber there were some goofy posts made by others besides Ohio St fans, I felt a lot of Buckeye hate in here this last two weeks.

TTM if they started booting them outta school, the behavoir WOULD change.

You equate classless as celebrating a big win and giving some crap back to those that dished it out. That's all this is and it was all started by smoothie and all the Ohio St backers answered him for the last 3 weeks, well guess what, we won and we are giving back some.

You can't take it, you were great at dishin it out, but now the classless ones are those that can not except that the Buckeyes did it on the field and on the scoreboard.

So Take your sourgrapes and claims of classlessness and stick them wear the sun don't shine.

AND DON'T COME BACK WITH THAT OLD TIRED, I DON'T CARE THAT THEY WON I JUST BLAH BLAH BLAH..........

You wouldn't even be responding to anything if you weren't still bitter and pissed that you lost and you have to take the heat now.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Police fired tear gas and wooden pellets to break up rioting by college football fans who set fire to cars, threw bottles and burned furniture in the streets early Sunday in celebration of Ohio State University's victory over rival Michigan.

AP Photo

In the minutes after the Buckeyes' 14-9 victory, which sealed a 13-0 season for the team and a trip to the Fiesta Bowl, fans swarmed the field and threw chunks of turf at state troopers who used pepper spray to try to prevent them from pulling down the goal posts.

At least a dozen fires were later set near the Columbus campus. Police said 45 people were arrested for disorderly conduct and alcohol violations.

Football celebrations got out of hand in South Carolina, California, North Carolina and Washington, as well.

At Washington State University, fans pelted visiting players from the winning University of Washington team with bottles, plastic souvenirs and other debris.

"I feared for my life," Washington athletic director Barbara Hedges said following the dramatic 29-26 triple-overtime win, which was decided by a referee's call that went against Washington State. None of the players was hurt.

_ In Clemson, S.C., a 67-year-old sheriff's officer and a female fan were injured when fans rushed the field and tore down a goal post following the Clemson Tigers' 27-20 win over South Carolina. Fans piled on top of Officer James Booth, was hospitalized in stable condition. Details on the woman's condition weren't immediately available, but officials said her injuries were not life-threatening.

_ In Raleigh, N.C., one person's leg was broken and two people suffered knee injuries on the field when fans tore down goal posts following North Carolina State's 17-7 victory over No. 14 Florida State.

_ In Berkeley, Calif., hundreds of University of California fans overwhelmed security guards and tore down the goal posts following the Golden Bears' 30-7 over rival Stanford. Some of the fans were taken away in handcuffs.

Ohio State fans at first high-fived the players after the Buckeye victory, but as more fans rushed the field, they began throwing clumps of sod at the officers and taking chunks of the turf some said they planned to sell on the Internet.

The crowds grew more rowdy after nightfall.

Police spokeswoman Sherry Mercurio said drivers reported their cars were pelted with debris, and a number of cars were set on fire. Officers used wooden pellets known as "knee-knockers" to disperse one crowd of several hundred people and arrested 45 people, she said.

"Your team has gone 13-0 and you should be darn proud of that fact," Mercurio said. "Instead, you take attention away from that and bring the spotlight on the fact that you can't control yourself if your team wins."

i equate classless to rioting in the streets, setting fires and vandalising property. what the hell kinda celebrating is that. i would have figured osu lost by a lowsy call the way the fans reacted. oh well, just my 2 cents.

Yep your team's fans are so classy that they riot like a bunch of gorillas. You can't justify their stupidity here.

First of all I think anyone who tears down goalposts is an idiot.
But, more importantly we should all celebrate OHIO ST.'s win. This means the bet of year will be upon us

OHIO ST. vs anyone in the NCS (most likely MIAMI)

I can't wait my dream has come true.

What I don't understand about tearing goal posts down is the solution that the University of Iowa came up with a few years ago. Simply make the goal posts collapsible by putting in a hinge on the support pole.

As the last seconds of a game at Kinnick Stadium tick off the clock, security at each end of the stadium lower the goal posts to the ground as the players(and sometimes fans, run onto the field) to celebrate the end of the game.

Iowa put in these posts in response to having to spend 5,000 every time the posts were torn down. In fact, Iowa sent Minnesota a check for 5,000 after the Iowa fans tore down the goalposts in the Metrodome a few weeks ago.

If the NCAA had any brains at all, they would make it mandatory for every school to install these types of goalposts. Just like that-- end of problem. But that's asking the NCAA to do something intelligent, and we all know how often that happens with that organization..........

Sorta took some down home ingenuity to figure that out, Midwest farmers love their retractable grain unloading augers on modern combines, I know I used to farm with one on a now outdated IHC 915 TURBO Corn & Bean Special, what a machine nothing like hearing that 414DT purr in 150 bushel corn !

Ah yes life was good. :topic:
