good question..i`m curious,too.....this is what I found...
?appendicitis, which is more common among older persons
?diverticulitis, which is a digestive disease
?a stomach ulcer
?gallstones
?gallbladder infection
?inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn?s disease or ulcerative colitis, which is less common
?inflamed Meckel?s diverticulum, which is a congenital abnormality of the small intestine that?s similar to the appendix
?cancer in the gastrointestinal tract
The condition may also be due to:
?blunt trauma to the abdomen
?a knife or gunshot wound to the abdomen
?abdominal surgery
?stomach ulcers due to taking aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and steroids (more common in older adults)
?ingestion of foreign objects or caustic substances
I take aspirin.....maybe I`ll ease up a bit....
Yeah, I found the same when when I looked after I posted. I think one of those things that you posted is what killed BahamaMama. Appendicitis or some similar shit.

There are lots of causes for a "ruptured intestine", but I would say in terms of a fatality, bowel ischemia/infarction would be most likely. It is unusual for someone to die from ruptured appendicitis/diverticulitis.
when my wife was going through her accident pain injury
they had her on morphine and she had a appendecitis episode
she almost died as the meds were masking her stomach pain
we got her to the emergency room within hours of death
big part of the insurance co settling the way they did.

Just learned that Patty Duke was mother of Sean Astin, the actor who portrayed Rudy Ruettiger.
