Hilton's good behavior cuts jail time to 23 days

POSTED: 11:06 p.m. EDT, May 16, 2007
Story Highlights? Paris Hilton will stay in unit reserved for high-profile inmates
? Each day, she'll get at least an hour outside her cell
? She can use time to shower, watch TV, exercise, talk on phone

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Paris Hilton will serve about half of her 45-day jail sentence and will be separated from the general inmate population, authorities said.

The hotel heiress will spend about 23 days in a "special needs housing unit" at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said.

Hilton will stay in a unit that contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates, he said.

Like everyone else in the 2,200-inmate facility, Hilton will get at least an hour outside her cell each day to shower, watch television, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone, he said.

The 26-year-old socialite was sentenced to jail this month for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. A judge ordered her to report to jail by June 5.
.......................................................

Wait a minute, Paris gets credit for showing up at her last court hearing,

She was late !!!!!!!!!!!

If this was any one of us we would have been whisked away in handcuffs and leg irons, at the court hearing and begun our sentence immediately.

Just another of the many examples in American that money talks and bullshit walks.

Over and over

Scientists cast doubt on Kennedy bullet analysis
Multiple shooters possible, study says

Updated: 2 hours, 17 minutes ago
In a collision of 21st-century science and decades-old conspiracy theories, a research team that includes a former top FBI scientist is challenging the bullet analysis used by the government to conclude that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in assassinating President John F. Kennedy in 1963.

The "evidence used to rule out a second assassin is fundamentally flawed," concludes a new article in the Annals of Applied Statistics written by former FBI lab metallurgist William A. Tobin and Texas A&M University researchers Cliff Spiegelman and William D. James.

The researchers' re-analysis involved new statistical calculations and a modern chemical analysis of bullets from the same batch Oswald is purported to have used. They reached no conclusion about whether more than one gunman was involved, but urged that authorities conduct a new and complete forensic re-analysis of the five bullet fragments left from the assassination 44 years ago.

"Given the significance and impact of the JFK assassination, it is scientifically desirable for the evidentiary fragments to be re-analyzed," the researchers said.

Tobin was the FBI lab's chief metallurgy expert for more than two decades. He analyzed metal evidence in major cases that included the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and the 1996 explosion of TWA Flight 800 off Long Island.

After retiring, he attracted national attention by questioning the FBI science used in prosecutions for decades to match bullets to crime suspects through their lead content. The questions he and others raised prompted a National Academy of Sciences review that in 2003 concluded that the FBI's bullet lead analysis was flawed. The FBI agreed and generally ended the use of that type of analysis.

Using new guidelines set forth by the National Academy of Sciences for proper bullet analysis, Tobin and his colleagues at Texas A&M re-analyzed the bullet evidence used by the 1976 House Select Committee on Assassinations, which concluded that only one shooter, Oswald, fired the shots that killed Kennedy in Dallas.

The committee's finding was based in part on the research of now-deceased University of California at Irvine chemist Vincent P. Guinn. He used bullet lead analysis to conclude that the five bullet fragments recovered from the Kennedy assassination scene came from just two bullets, which were traced to the same batch of bullets Oswald owned.

To do their research, Tobin, Spiegelman and James said they bought the same brand and lot of bullets used by Oswald and analyzed their lead using the new standards. The bullets from that batch are still on the market as collectors' items.

They found that the scientific and statistical assumptions Guinn used -- and the government accepted at the time -- to conclude that the fragments came from just two bullets fired from Oswald's gun were wrong.

"This finding means that the bullet fragments from the assassination that match could have come from three or more separate bullets," the researchers said.

"If the assassination fragments are derived from three or more separate bullets, then a second assassin is likely, as the additional bullet would not be attributable to the main suspect, Mr. Oswald

There is nothing and I mean nothing that pisses me off more than reading this stuff. And that is because even as a young man I knew the goverment was involved. It was the start of not trusting my own goverment.

What's mainly wrong with society today is that too many Dirt Roads have been paved.

There's not a problem in America today, crime, drugs, education, divorce, delinquency that wouldn't be remedied, if we just had more Dirt Roads, because Dirt Roads give character.

People that live at the end of Dirt Roads learn early on that life is a bumpy ride.

That it can jar you right down to your teeth sometimes, but it's worth it, if at the end is home...a loving spouse, happy kids and a dog.

We wouldn't have near the trouble with our educational system if our kids got their exercise walking a Dirt Road with other kids, from whom they learn how to get along.

There was less crime in our streets before they were paved.

Criminals didn't walk two dusty miles to rob or rape, if they knew they'd be welcomed by 5 barking dogs and a double barrel shotgun.

And there were no drive by shootings.

Our values were better when our roads were worse!

People did not worship their cars more than their kids, and motorists were more courteous, they didn't tailgate by riding the bumper or the guy in front would choke you with dust & bust your windshield with rocks.

Dirt Roads taught patience.

Dirt Roads were environmentally friendly, you didn't hop in your car for a quart of milk you walked to the barn for your milk.

For your mail, you walked to the mail box.

What if it rained and the Dirt Road got washed out? That was the best part, then you stayed home and had some family time, roasted marshmallows and popped popcorn and pony rode on Daddy's shoulders and learned how to make prettier quilts than anybody.

At the end of Dirt Roads, you soon learned that bad words tasted like soap.

Most paved roads lead to trouble, Dirt Roads more likely lead to a fishing creek or a swimming hole.

At the end of a Dirt Road, the only time we even locked our car was in August, because if we didn't some neighbor would fill it with too much zucchini.

At the end of a Dirt Road, there was always extra springtime income, from when city dudes would get stuck, you'd have to hitch up a team and pull them out.

Usually you got a dollar...always you got a new friend...at the end of a Dirt Road!

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Actor Sylvester Stallone was formally convicted Monday of importing restricted muscle-building hormones into Australia and ordered to pay more than $9,870 in fines and court costs.

New South Wales state Deputy Chief Magistrate Paul Cloran said the "Rocky" and "Rambo" star had failed to show he had a valid prescription for vials of human growth hormone that were in his luggage when he arrived for a promotional tour in February. Stallone also had failed to declare the male hormone testosterone on a customs entry form, although he had a valid prescription.

Cloran fined Stallone $2,500 and ordered him to pay $8,200 in prosecution costs. Stallone, who was not present in court, had pleaded guilty last week.

A customs search of Stallone's luggage during a February 16 visit to Sydney revealed 48 vials of the human growth hormone product, Jintropin.

Three days later, Stallone threw four vials of testosterone from his Sydney hotel room when customs officials arrived to search it, prosecutors said.:com:

Human growth hormone, a naturally occurring substance that can be replicated synthetically and is used to build muscle mass, is considered a performance enhancing drug in Australia and it cannot be imported without a permit from the national drug regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration.

Stallone's lawyer had said the actor should be spared a criminal conviction, saying Stallone took the hormones for medical reasons that he did not specify.:SIB

But prosecutors said Stallone had demonstrated a "consciousness of guilt" by throwing the testosterone from the hotel.:scared

The maximum penalty for bringing Jintropin into Australia without a license is a fine of $91,500 and five years in prison.

But Stallone faced a maximum penalty $18,000 on each of the two charges and no prison time because the matter was heard in a local, not federal, court.

Cloran said that because of the publicity surrounding the case, the penalty was enough to send a clear message that such behavior would not be tolerated.

"I don't think there is anything further the court could or should do in order to deter Mr. Stallone from committing these offenses again," Cloran said.

He said he was satisfied the human growth hormone and testosterone were for Stallone's personal use, and that "there is no suggestion that the substances were being used for anything other than cosmetic or therapeutic purposes."

Prosecution documents handed to the court in March said Stallone had marked "No" on a customs declaration card that asked if he was bringing into Australia restricted or prohibited goods, "such as medicines, steroids, firearms, weapons, or any kind of illicit drugs."

During his visit to Australia, Stallone shrugged off the airport incident.

"It was just a minor misunderstanding," Stallone told reporters "They were just doing their jobs. I just didn't understand some of the rules here.":SIB

He came to Australia on a three-day tour to promote the latest movie in the "Rocky" series, "Rocky Balboa."

Rules are this stuff will kill you Rocky.

9 K slap on the wrist.

He needed a suitcase full to arrive in Austrailia ?:scared

.Reeves doesn?t see his Vick in headlines today
By Terence Moore | Saturday, June 2, 2007, 01:22 AM

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Terence Moore No, he didn?t hear, see or suspect anything involving Michael Vick and illegal dogfighting during the three seasons they were together. No, he never had a significant problem with the suddenly trouble-filled Falcons quarterback either on or off the field. No, he hasn?t a clue about how this will end.

Here?s what former Falcons coach Dan Reeves does know: Before he maneuvered in 2001 to make Vick the No. 1 pick overall in the NFL draft, he did what most of his peers would have done. That is, he called those in charge of the league?s security staff to check for anything strange in Vick?s past, dogfighting or otherwise.

Nothing, the NFL told Reeves. Still, last week an unidentified police informant told ESPN Vick was present and betting heavily on dogfighting in 2000, when he played at Virginia Tech.

?I spent a lot of time talking to [Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer], and he certainly didn?t know anything about [Vick and dogfighting],? said Reeves, now an NFL analyst for Westwood One radio when he isn?t helping Georgia State with its football ambitions. ?I never heard anything about any misdoings by [Vick] coming out of college, and the league certainly didn?t know of anything. I mean, Michael was like a son. I enjoyed being around him, and he was fun to be around.?

As a result, with the feds, the Virginia judicial system and the NFL?s no-nonsense commissioner starting to bark at Vick louder than those 66 dogs involved in his latest controversy, Reeves gave an invitation to Vick three weeks ago. ?I talked to him, and I told him at that time, ?Hey, you know, I?m here. You need somebody to talk to, to bounce things off of, whatever. You know, don?t hesitate to call me,? ? Reeves said. ?So I?m always there to talk to him if he needs help. He knows that. I don?t want to interfere with him, but all of that has got to come from him.?

The phone at Reeves? Buckhead home has yet to ring with Vick on the other end, but Reeves should stand by.

News continues to break about Vick?s possible role in dogfighting. That news ranges from the Virginia prosecutor in Surry County claiming he has enough evidence to indict as yet unnamed persons to AirTran dropping Vick as an endorser to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sending league security to the scene to assist in the local investigation.

Not good. In contrast, there was 2002, when Vick finished his last full season under Reeves with the highest quarterback rating of his career. Vick also was maturing as a person. Among other things, Reeves hired someone to help Vick with his diction to improve his speaking in the huddle and in interviews.

?Michael was very much involved in wanting to be the best he could be and trying to do the right things,? Reeves said. ?He had a great heart. Now there is no question he had some things you had to talk to him about, involving his associations. He was greatly influenced by what people would say, because he was young. There were several things that happened, but it was more about, ?Michael, you got to be careful about who you associate with.? And I think that?s a little bit of what?s happening now. It?s just gotten out of hand.?

Which brings us to this: Reeves has been around the NFL awhile. He went to Super Bowls as a player and coach in Dallas, Denver and Atlanta. He even froze as a player during the Ice Bowl in Green Bay.

So what?s going to happen here? ?I have no idea, but I?m hoping and praying Michael?s not going to be involved and that the only thing he?s guilty of is making some poor decisions as far as letting people on his property and so forth,? Reeves said. ?I mean, [dogfighting] is a felony. It?s not like you not knowing this is illegal. It?s illegal most everywhere you go.?

Then Reeves paused, before mentioning his love affair with golden retrievers, Cavalier King Charles spaniels, and other types of canines. ?Shoot, man. You don?t mess with my dogs,? said Reeves, easing into a chuckle. His chuckle got louder, when the Americus native added, ?Dogs are the only things that you can count on that will love you when you come home. No matter what the score is.?

.......................................................

Reeves is the biggest joke I have ever seen. Worst coach in NFL history.

Two things T Moore has reported on that I never heard before. One is diction in the huddle. :142smilie

The second was Blank actually had Vick over to his house playing video games with his kids. :SIB

It is NICE. You know what I do when I?m really, really ****ed up? I go to Bath & Body Works and I smell all the candles. They have a S?Mores candle, and I swear to God it smells EXACTLY like S?Mores. One time I took a bite out of one. It did NOT taste like S?Mores. But look how shiny my teeth are!

I think I have to throw up.

You ever just, like, sit in a Pottery Barn? It?s so tranquil. Oh, oh! You know what I like to do! I like to go to Brooks Brothers, and then have them fit me for a suit. They take you in the back, and they put you on this little pedestal, and then they, like measure you and shit. And it?s those old Italian ****ers that do it. Not fake Italians, like that **** Tony Danza. Real little Italian men. Like they were just flown in. It?s so ****ing classy.
