New York Mets ace pitcher Pedro Martinez admitted to a serious curladdiction earlier this month, after his third perm in only a matter of weeks.
"That boy sure does love his curls," said barber Joe Healy,who performed two of the three procedures.
"Before he sat in my chair, he was all sweaty and shaking uncontrollably. After the perm started he appeared muchmore at ease with life."
Martinez's teammates are becoming increasingly concernedwith concerned his hair habit. Carlos Delgado, a clubhouse leader, has spoken with Martinez on several occasions.
"I just keep telling him to try and keep it under control,"said Delgado. "I mean once or twice a month is okay, butwhen you're pushing three and four times, you got some serious issues."
Martinez recently got a call from a former teammate,catcher Mike Piazza, encouraging him to rethink his ways.
Piazza recalled the damage his over-extended mullet did to his career, his family and his teammates.
"Before long, the rumors will start," said Piazza. "Trust me, I should know." :s8:
