. You may not agree with me on that but I guarantee that you didn't like Penn State or joepa prior to this and your tune would be different if it were Texas Tech. I don't know that at all, that is just my observation, gathered from the fact that you never even mentioned the victims in any of your posts until I did. Don't take this the wrong way either, I am not saying you don't care about the victims. I am sure you do and would be willing to prove it to anyone willing to listen, as long as it results in Penn State football getting shutdown. That is your main concern in all of your posts.

Hope that helps,
FDC

This sums up most posters on this topic....

Its Joepa, psu football, joepa, psu football

no mention of sandusky or victims or prevention, foundation etc...

You can guarantee I don't like Penn State? I guess you missed the thread in which I stated that Penn State was my favorite team growing up and Joe Pa was my favorite coach. No problem that you missed that statement but the fact that you're telling me what I like and what I don't like is not cool with me. I haven't put words in your mouth, don't put them in mine. And for the record, if Texas Tech, the school I send plenty of money to every year had the same thing happen you can bet that I would be on the phone yelling at people and praying they would kill the football program. You see FDC football is not bigger than peoples lives to me. I pray that if it ever happens at Tech that someone, just one of the people that have knowledge has the fucking balls to standup and tell the police so it doesn't happen again. Not just happen at my school but happen anywhere this POS could be.

I'm sorry this is a sports forum and guess what, we have a tendancy to concentrate on the sports side of things here. Crazy idea right! That's why I've been on here talking about hammering Penn State. Just think of all the young men who wouldn't be fucked up right now if after the FIRST time one of the people there would have had the balls to turn him in instead of protect their school and football program.

You can have your opinion but there's one thing I know for sure that came from these sanctions and that's if this happens again there's a FAR BETTER chance that it gets stopped right away instead of letting it go on for years.

call me crazy but, I'd sort of prefer that the punishments doled out here make it so that this doesn't happen again, rather than just being able to quickly find out and address it after it happens again.

Dude,
So I state that "I don't know this and this is just an observation" and I'm putting words in your mouth? Do you think the sanctions are what will prevent this from happening again or will the five months of press and media coverage have a more lasting effect?
For this entire thread I have maintained that our justice system is designed to punish the guilty not the innocent. The sanctions did none of that. The guilty aren't there and are on trial. So tell me again why sanctions are so important. What will the cause and effect be that will be so much more judicious than prison to those involved. Again, none of those that stand accused are still there so how does it help. Did the sanctions provide for the recovery of victims in a sustainable manner? Did they even address the topic of awareness and set into motion the fix for all schools to operate by. What exactly did the NCAA do that was so fucking great for the healing aspect of all this? So the sanctions provide nothing in the way of prevention, assistance to victims, raise awareness, or start the healing and they punished several thousand youths that had absolutely nothing to do with the crime and they are necessary and awesome why again? I am not arguing that those involved should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. I hope they gas the fuckers for all I care about them. I simply expressed my opinion that sanctions are not necessary nor good for anything, quite the contrary. I would like to see the school given an opportunity to use the football and all it's sporting programs to raise awareness and money for the victims so when it comes time for them to do something, they have the necessary funds to do it.
This is where I get deluged with "independent reports by the ex G.I. Joe guy or somebody telling me about e-mails and such. What does any of that have to do with anything about the victims? If people are outraged by this and want justice great, but what are they outraged about. My position is and will continue to be that the sanctions are simply a popularity ploy to garner some positive press for one of the worst organizations in all of sports worldwide. When people start citing an article that they read or a story on the news and then shove it down my throat as fact like they saw the evidence with their own eyes, I don't like it anymore than you liked the thought of me putting words in your mouth. I don't take news as gospel or evidence, ever. I go by what I know to be fact and I will readily admit I don't know all of the facts as I did not interview anyone myself so I can only speculate as to what really happened and so can everyone else. This is where others seem to lose sight of the big picture. I don't care what is reported on tv or how anybody thinks, I care that justice is served and the victims are taken care of. I didn't see where the NCAA could provide that then and they didn't provide it now.
The rest of the bullshit is moral chest beating. I mean, all I kept reading is how the football program needed to be shut down and nobody yet has provided me with any information as to how that would help accomplish anything positive for the community. Nothing but stupid comments about raping boys and the school knew about it and covered it up. Bullshit those that had a hand in it are people not schools. They have jobs like everyone so what. Punish the guilty not the innocent but people want Penn State blood and they could care less about the victims, which is why they continuously get left out of the vast majority of any argent contrary to this.
I don't know why people insist that I am defending the guilty my guess is that it's the same reason that they believe everything they hear on tv that supports their position of shutting down the football program. I don't believe it just because someone reported it. I have own thought process.
Hope that helps,
FDC

LOL, way to cover youself man. You guarantee it but you don't really know at all. I'm willing to bet you thought Bama would win the NC game as long as LSU didn't beat them.

It's been fun bud but like I would expect we're not getting anywhere. You need to come to one of my family reunions, you would fit right in!

You know what dude, call it whatever you want. You want to know the truth of it. I was typing that post as well as this post from my phone and as I typed it I realized that I don't know it to be fact so I backed off of it. The statement was more or less a blanket statement. Meaning I think there is that motivation for a lot of people but I didn't know for a fact that you were one of them. That and the fact that you live near me and I like your posts for the most part on here so I tempered the statement. You want to know why it's written like that now you know. Again, this is exactly why I don't take everything I read as gospel.

Me either my friend. I know you're a good guy but I love to debate. The problem here is that your opinion is wrong and mine is right.

Now that is what I wanted to hear. Thanks for the laugh man. Very funny. With that I going to take my wrong ass on to a new subject. I hear we have a hot one with kids in theaters going on. Lol
