It amazes me the support liberal press give the enemy. CBS--60 minutes aired which I hope to be isolated examples of mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners and their "sister company" Algezeera immediately pick up on it and broadcast it to Iraq to stir up the people. Tell me how many lives and treatment of coalition troops will be effected by CBS---The people responsible had already been charged.
Wonder why CBS didn't do special on burnt bodies of americans hang from bridge.

DTB It was ok for them to burn those 4 civilian workers. I know we have to follow all the rules because we believe in the rule of law. Best way I can say it this early.
Our folks will get there butts in trouble. And I guess they should. But deep inside I feal just as I did many years ago. And same with what happend in Korea. A eye for a eye. And yes to bad those pitcures got out. How the hell did CBS even get them to start with.

Only reason I can come up with them being shown is politically motivated. I said it at the start of this war that there are elements inside our own country that hope we fail in Iraq as badly as the terrorist do.---and THATS a problem---

Gonzalez should be taken out back and shot cuz he/she/it doesn't "get" it at all...utterly clueless.

Anyway, my thoughts on Tillman: He was most definitely a hero, REGARDLESS of whether the cause he fought for was ultimately "just". History will judge and then re-judge over and over again whether the war was "morally" justified. I AM a little disturbed that as our media proclaims Pat Tillman a hero they don't also give praise and thanks to all the other service personnel that have sacrificed ALL for this nation. Not to mention the many times more who have sacrificed limbs and suffered physical injuries. Not to mention the many times those who have sacrificed being with their families and placing themselves in harm's way.

For these brave people to have to listen to these spoiled soft little INGRATES denigrate their service is to my mind an outrage.

But we have freedom of speech here...so let them open their mouths and prove their stupidity to the world. Let them run down the USA. I just wish they lived in some country LIKE Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, China, etc so that when they saw the violations of basic human dignity and human rights and saw fit to speak in public against those governments and were brutally supressed, THEN they would see why people like Pat Tillman cherish the United States and were willing to die for it.

I DO have a comment on Cuba. From what I have learned they DO have very good health care and education. I believe that if the U.S. had not isolated them and had established trade with them they would be enjoying a far better standard of living. We have done no favors for the Cuban people by our policy of non-engagement the last 40 years. It has not brought Castro down and has only punished the Cuban citizenry.

Put yourself in Castro's position. He truly did lead a just revolution against an abusive corrupt government. Then the CIA tried to assassinate him, tried to invade him. The US wouldn't trade with him. Who CAN he turn to but the USSR? The missile placement was a obviously a BAD idea though at the time danders were up. I think on the whole though, if a fair assessment were made, Castro has not been uniformly "Evil" just as we (the USA) has not been uniformly "Good" in regards to the sides we've chosen in various Central American and African conflicts. I suspect that many Cubans might be loyal to Castro. Time will tell how the Cuban people remember him, which matters much more than how we do.

ed...i agree with you....and i don`t dislike you or your liberal views...liberals are basically idealists...and i think that`s a very noble perspective....not always viable...but,your ideology and opinions(from what i`ve read) obviously come from a good place....it`s just very difficult to achieve the perfect political and social system...

trademaster....if you don`t believe me read up on the madrassas....what were once religious schools teaching law, providing classical islamic teachings, religious ritual and dissemination of islamic sciences are now breeding grounds for radical fundamentalist terrorists...

not all madrassas....but since 1980,the number of madrassas has dramatically increased...and i don`t mean the benign variety...

i read one arab writer who has been in many madrassas and said that in one madrassa the prophetic writing(hadith)on the wall was..."Seek knowledge even if it takes you as far as China."....while across the road on the wall of one of the radical madrassas was scrawled: "Paradise lies under the shade of swords."

even if we pulled out of the middle east entirely,it ain`t over...there`s still israel.......and any country that has a western value system...

we`d have to become an isolationist country to avoid the radical fundamentalist`s ire.....

we are prosperous...they are not...we are progressive...they are not...we have freedom of thought and expression...and strive for equality for our people...for women....they strive to suppress any beliefs other than their own.....mired in ancient tribalism and hatreds...

"the" major threat to western civilization in the 21st century......imo...

Oh yeah, before I go, Proscan Imaging, I hope you can join moi and Dogcrap (if he shows) on the course. Although you won't get some of my ambulance chasing money, as I don't bet, I do reserve the right to pummel you and that right wing mentality of yours with my fists as well as my sticks. Sounds like a fun threesome. Maybe Fletcher can caddy for me.

Off to the boats,

We all know how the US media has an agenda. Just p*ssed me off that so many want to harp on the US when you should start cleaning up your own backyard first. I wonder if its true that Fox News channel is in China, but not Canada? Not to mention the Draft Dodgers, Muslim Courts, etc. And didn't the LAX intended car bomber come from Vancouver?

Of course the I like to hear arguments on both sides which is why I watch/listen to all types of posts and opinions. I know a lot of it is swill, but I can make up my own mind w/out being degrading. Look at Jessica Lynch. She got more medals, accolades and publicity that Pat Tillman ever did. Not to mention that 'staged' rescue. As far as the unacceptable torture of Iraqi POW's, its a terrible thing, and there is NO way that it should go unpunished. Not only because it violates basic human rights and the laws of war, but it will only make the resistance fighters fight until the bitter end, for fear of being treated the same. Treating prisoners like this fails every time which is why those Military Officers in the know stopped doing it a long time ago. It's much easier to take a prisoner when he knows that he'll be treated humanely, get meals and needed sleep. If he knows he's going to be tortured and beaten most are gonna fight a lot harder.

Recently there have also been drastic rises in terrorism and the organized ambushes. As you can imagine these acts also increase the stress level of the soldiers. During times of conflict and war, the suicide rates will rise. A lot of soldiers get Dear John letters from their wives and girlfiends. This added to the fact you're in the middle of a combat zone, you're highly stressed and pretty miserable, then your tour gets extended.

I think the torture was caused by this kinda stress, and by a feeling of "we have to get even with these ppl, no matter what". Obviously, this is simply wrong, and those soldiers plus those in command need some time in a Courts Martial to think about their actions. Those soldiers are about as representative of the US Armed Forces as this guy represents Canadien Hockey...

I suppose the Aussies & Kiwis were also just being selfish...

The Medical Corp - you were straight out of medical school. You were captured at the fall of Singapore and you were taken as a Japanese prisoner of war to Burma. Were the Japanese as cruel as history suggests?
I don't know what history suggests, but there's...nothing could suggest or state which would exaggerate the way they were.

Too bad Cops, Firemen, the Military didn't feel like taking the easy way out or turning their backs on those they serve. Wonder what your reaction would be then?

P.S.: "Act like an *sshole, you get treated like an *sshole!"
