Freshman Center Russell Hicks To Miss Thursday's Game Against No. 14 Gonzaga
Starting Center Returns Home Due To Death In Family

Feb. 9, 2005

Freshman Russell Hicks, Pepperdine's starting center, will miss Thursday's men's basketball game against No. 14 Gonzaga as he has returned to his hometown of Ontario, Canada, due to a death in the family, it was announced on Wednesday.

Hicks, who has started the last four games for the Waves, is currently averaging 3.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and a team-leading 1.3 blocks a contest.

Sophomore forward Cody Horning, who has missed the last 19 games with a knee injury, began practicing on Monday and has been cleared to play.

Pepperdine hosts West Coast Conference (WCC)-leading Gonzaga Thursday night at Firestone Fieldhouse beginning at 8 p.m. in a game that will be televised live nationally by ESPN2.

Pepperdine's Glen McGowan is also listed as questionable for Thursday's tilt due to an undisclosed illness.
