The numbers are for Adjusted Gross Income. What percentage of Gross Income do they pay versus the middle class.

All you smart guys that cry about socialism vs capitalism have it wrong... Lets talk about capitalism where people that steal go to jail... EVEN PEOPLE WITH MONEY THAT HAVE LAWYERS WITH MONEY.... just because you don't carry a gun, have your manicures and pedicures more that most of hard working woman do, doesn't mean justice shouldn't be as swift & punitive... The state of our nation is not about capitalism or socialism... THAT'S JUST SMOKE SCREEN FOR FUCKING IDIOTS........ There are ethical questions and criminal questions.... The CAPITALIST ARE STANDING IN LINE AFTER RAPING, THAT'S FUCKING WITHOUT CONSENT OR LUBERCATION WITH THEIR LIMP DICKS IN HAND , LOOKING FOR THEIR BRAND OF SOCIALISM TO BAIL THEIR ASSES OUT ! THATS WHAT THIS IS ABOUT... I DON'T SEE TO MANY CAPITALIST TURNING SOCIALISM DOWM.... I'M A CAPITALIST.... I don't get paid if I don't go to work.. I make it rain... my longest empolyment is working for myself (16yrs)... Sick of bull shit from people that couldn't create a dollar if they had to....

I, for one, am really tired of people calling others "fucking idiots" when they don't agree with them. Makes this forum a worse place to be.

My point was that I think it has been stated that it's "common knowledge" that the high income earners were carrying less of the burden since Bush was in office.

My original intent was not politically motivated.

And for those of you who don't think that the people in the 3-5% of that top 5% aren't bitching, then you're not talking to them. $153,000 sets the 5% threshold, and they aren't real happy.

But, once again, that wasn't my point. My point was that their tax burden has increased over the last decade.

Who is John Galt?
Great post good info.. It obvious that this thread was not politically motivated because it helps the right on the surface but points out the flaws of the bush economy... I don't call people that I disagree with FI's... I call FI's, FI's .....

You ok, Bryanz? You're even more hopped up than usual today. Hope all is well.
Believe he missed his meds today-Matt

I been walking around this planet 59 years now--and have yet to meet a person that looked forward to having their taxes raised--other than in cyber space. :)

What about ole Loop getting married? Haven't seen him around in long time--was always one of my fav posters.

Yeah, great guy.

I had met him and his ex-wife (wife at the time) maybe 8 years ago I think in Vegas and then again by pure coincidence (obviously) I ran into her at a bar in Key West about 5 years ago when she was down here on some sort of girls vacation or something. No, I wasn't the cause of their split, before you start getting ideas. :nono:

But i'm happy that he found somebody else and I look forward to going up there for the wedding.

Been walking around this planet nearly as long as you, my friend, and although nobody would prefer that their taxes be raised, some can understand what good they can do, and don't mind some of their money going to take care of the best country in the world to live in - give or take a couple. And of course, there's always the issue of calling an expiring tax cut from the previous administration's planned expiration a tax raise, but I digress... ;)

I think to a person, most people would prefer they could keep all of their money and we would live in a perfectly running country, but, alas, it doesn't seem to work that way. It only seems to really work well for the really wealthy to any really positive degree, in an increasing way, despite how much they pay in taxes. No doubt, the people who pay no taxes do well too, as far as taxes go, and benefits go, but they certainly don't do as well. Again, no problems here if you limit them from benefits, but make sure you collect enough taxes to pay for what it will take to change the culture and do the things it takes to make people want to change positively. No easy answer here, but simply to lower taxes for those that pay them, without any other solutions is not the answer, either, despite what some say.

AGAIN - I am all for a flat tax and/or a consumption tax, and cutting out deductions, and many of the upper and lower benefits/payments. Are we ALL in agreement to do that? Wayne? Wease? TerryRay? Kosar? Smurph? Etc.? If not, why not? I don't pretend to understand the overall ramifications of this idea, but I know of many wealthy people in this country that would not like that, because it would change the way they live their lives. For some reason, the most simple way to combat the current scenario just doesn't seem to float with the wealthy...I wonder why? Any thoughts? Conservatives?

what do you know about this one or anything ????

I know that all the talk about the rich being rewarded by GWB with a lower tax burden at the expense of the middle class is nothing more than leftist propaganda.

I know that the USA will not reach our potential until enough of us realize that both major parties are operated by crooks.

I know that a national insurance service provider pulled out of Louisiana today, which essentially leaves me unemployed as of 4/15/09.

I know that I feel like I let my family down by landing in this position.

I know that I will seek opportunity high and low until I locate a new source of income.

I know that in my current state of joblessness, I no longer have the time to spend on handicapping sites.........

Chad already commented on flat tax--which sound great other than deduction part--maybe a consumor tax? Don't mind paying taxes if they are fair--but am fearful of what is coming down the road--especially healthcare reform/carbon credits/expanded medicaid and welfare.

While certain enities like Bryanz look at the "free" aspect of these entiltlements to "the people"--we all know who will ultimutely being paying for it. Its socialism regardless of how it's packaged.

Does your current position have any expertise in claims adjusting? Have known several claims adjusters through the years and all have been quite successful with all the work they want. I would certainly look into getting in that field. Had one of my friends sons that got into that field via OJT trainie during Katrina. Working down there for bout a year and while he did not make much as trainie got experience and quafilied and now knocking down about 70K.

IMO good field to get into--
