Last week, on Saturday March 4th, I went to the ER and with extreme stomach pain. I was told that I was dehydrated and am having some problems with my kidneys and stayed in the hospital until March 6th Monday. When visiting with the doctors they told me to schedule follow up appts with them. I felt like crap on Tuesday-Thursday with the same stomach pains but not as severe. I went to see the doctor on Friday and he prescribed Percocet and told me to take them for the pain, but be careful because its addictive. It says on the bottle to take them 6 hrs apart. I took two pills Friday 1 at 1pm and another around 9 because I was in severe pain. I took one on Sat & Sun around mid day because I was in moderate pain. I took 2 again yesterday - 1 at 11am and 1 at 8pm because I was in severe pain most of the day. Today I have felt pretty good all day and have not taken any. I am trying to be very careful about taking these and don't really want to mess with them that much at all but the doctor told me I should take them when I am experiencing moderate to severe pain. My only question is if I feel the way I did today I will discontinue taking them, and is that okay because it was a prescription and if I stop taking them (altogether) will I be in a whole lotta pain tomorrow ( I really hate the times I experience the severe pain). I go in for more tests on Friday and they should know more by then. Just trying to be cautious. Any doctors in the house?

I have had kidney stones and almost nothing they give you
helps during the passing of the stone.

The DR gives you the pills to take if you are in pain. Dont feel
guilty. Take the shit if you need to. You will run out of pills
before you get addicted anyway. The DR wont allow you
to get hooked he will just stop writing you prescriptions.

Take them when you need them. If you run out call in for more.

not an antibiotic, so it won't hurt you to stop taking them whenever you are out of pain. Remember, don't be a martyr for no reason, if you hurt, take the medicine.

I wouldn't be too worried about getting addicted since that is a concern for you. Your doctor is correct, though, that is a highly addictive drug (Oxycodone- the extended release form of this drug is Oxycontin), so only take it if you are hurting, don't take it for a buzz.

"The DR wont allow you
to get hooked he will just stop writing you prescriptions." Scott, I'll have to sadly disagree with this statement. I have seen too many doctors that enable bunches of people to get addicted by keeping the pharmacy open with new scripts.

Hope you get to feeling better quickly.

I'm no doctor, but as have more experience with chronic pain than most doctors. 6/5 is absolutely correct, its not a antibiotic, so you don't have to finish prescription. And he's entirely correct about doctors, there are plenty of shitty physicians out there that would let you become addicted, just be careful. Hopefully they find the sources of your pain, strictly treating with opiates not really the answer. Good luck
