I would agree that they are in the same conference but I disagree with everything else. The only real success the program had was when it was in the Southwest Conference and I think that was because they played Texas teams and were able to recruit the Texas talent easier. Even with that somewhat success they have never won a national title. At least LSU shares a border with Texas. As far as getting in state kids, it's not hard because no one else wants them. Arkansas high school football is pathetic. The Oklahoma high schools have been playing them for the past few years and throttle their best teams every year. The only exceptions I can think of are Matt Jones and Darren McFadden. I think you are overvaluing the Arkansas football job.

Every team goes thru bad years. I think the move to the SEC was harder on Arkansas that many thought it would be. Petrino proved what you can do at the program and had a great chance for a special year this year. He recruited Texas very well this last year and was recruiting it well again. It's close enough to the DFW area that those kids still feel close to home and get to play in the SEC.

Just heard an interesting name and hadn't even thought of it but Art Briles name was mentioned. He's a very good coach and for those that don't know is thought of very highly amongst Texas high school coaches. He's also clean as can be.

They need an offensive wizard-great talent on the off side of the ball. Thinking they will hire one of their asst for a year then go outside--getting late as who can get out ot their contract now:shrug:

Wood u r exactly right.....it has taken the Hogs more time to adapt to the SEC, we r close to getting all of the pieces n place. Hawksoon u r comparing apples to oranges in your high school comparison......Arkansas doesn't have the population of kids so the talent numbers r much smaller than bordering states, however when the top high school teams have played out of state games they have done well, most of what u r referring to is the mediocre teams.......the Arkansas job is definitely a hot spot and an attractive job with some of the top facilities n the country, and now we have an AD that will pay the price for a big time coach
