Philadelphia +5
Under 193

This has been one of the toughest seasons to be a fan of the 76ers since they got AI in the '96 draft. This team should be neck and neck with Jersey for the lead in the Atlantic division, instead they find themselves in second place four games below .500, 7.5 games back of New Jersey clinging to the eighth playoff spot and a first round sweep at the hands of the Pistons.

Onto the game...The Pacers come into this game just 4-6 over their last 10 games and their offense in a nasty funk. They have averaged 85.6 pp/g on 41% shooting over their L5 contests. To be fair two of those games were against defensive powerhouses Detroit and Memphis, but those are still the numbers. Looking at their recent performance you may ask yourself, how can they be favored by 5 points over anybody at this point? Home game or not? The answer is simply that Philadelphia has been just as awful. They have won only 2 of their last 10 games.

Jermaine O'Neal returned for the Pacers earlier in the week and he will get his chance to show a national television audience that he is indeed back and ready to contribute to the Pacer's stretch run even if it means coming off the bench. The rust is still there as he has only scored 25 points over both games while shooting about 36% from the field.

The Sixers suffered an ill-timed loss at the hands of the Magic Friday, who came in having lost 16 straight on the road. Philadelphia was embarrassed and it showed in the comments made after the game. "It was just an ugly game starting in the first half, said Webber, who admitted after the game to being embarrassed. "You have games like that during the season because its a long season, but right now we just cant afford to have that type of game."I struggled on both ends of the court and I just couldnt get in a rhythm out there, said Iverson,"When I struggle the way I did tonight, as a team we are obviously going to struggle."

The Sixers should come out today with a chip on their shoulder not only because of Friday's loss but also the last time these two teams met, Stephen Jackson stole the game away with an open drive to the basket in the last few seconds, denying Philadelphia a win that really was theirs for the taking.

The Pacers are one of the top defensive teams @ home allowing an average of 88.4 pp/g, behind only SA and Memphis. I look for a tight game similar to the one played just a few Sunday's ago in Philadelphia by these two teams. The biggest lead for either team during that game was eight points by the Pacers midway through the 3rd quarter. The road team has won the last three games in this sereis, including both meetings this season.

* Both PHI and IND are 1-4 O/U in L5 games.
* Under is 8-2-0 in PHI last 10 overall.
* Under is 17-5-0 in PHI last 22 Sunday games.
* Under is 23-9-0 in PHI last 32 afternoon games.
* Philadelphia is 5-1 this season as a dog of 5-5.5 points.

Final Play...Los Angeles/Portland Over 190.5

Los Angeles is coming off an impressive home win yesterday afternoon over Washington and now travels to Portland to meet the Jailblazers. Portland has been very generous as of late, allowing opponents to score an average of 103.8 pp/g on 49.4% shooting over their L5 games. This fits perfectly with what the Clips have done offensively over their L5, scoring 101.4 on 49.7% shooting.

In back-to-backs this season, Los Angeles average total has been 198.3 with a 10-5 O/U record. Here are the totals from their L3 B2B. All games in the last 30 days.
03/21/06 @ New Orleans 228 pts
03/11/06 @ Milwaukee 204 pts
02/22/06 @ Houston 208 pts

See any patterns?? All three games were on the road and all three games went over 200 points. During their L5 road games the Clips are averaging 98.6 pp/g, having scored 85, 108, 99, 95, and 106 respectively. The total is set at 190.5 which worries me somewhat (why so low?) after seeing these numbers but we shall take our chances as the line has risen a full point in some books.
