wow, jeter bunting 0-2...now that's just retarded and makes no sense. followed up by another bad call by the umps.

Jeters pride got in the way there. He did that on his own. I think he was determined to move those runners over no matter what.

Another bad call in these playoffs... At least this time it won't affect the outcome. It screws me on my over in game bet though

That was a tough call as to whether that line drive was caught in the air or on the short hop, but when Howard threw it 90 ft instead of touching first base 10 ft away, he made it obvious the ball hit the ground. Terrible call!

How will it not effect the outcome? Will never know how many they could have scored as the bases would have been loaded with 1 out.

There you go. 2 balls called strikes on Utley they show the 1st one on pitch track clearly outside of course they know the 2nd one is not a strike and dont show it. Then UTLEY was clearly safe at 1st.

why are so many batters swinging at inside pitches that are clearly balls? If they dont swing i bet theres 15 walks in tonites games.

Rollins and Victorino are the worst

Gardner is a wasted roster spot. All he has is speed. The only thing he's been used for this postseason is pinch running, and I believe he's been thrown out attempting to steal every time he's pinch run for someone. Give him an AB, and he strikes out swinging at crap,

Aceegee,

I saw a lot of inside pitches up and in that were just outside of the zone being called strikes tonight so that might be why.

I disagree, I think gardener is extremely valuable to this Yankees team. They need speed on the bases in a tight game when they're tied or down 1 a d a guy like matsui or posada or Molina get on. I will say one thing however, girardi is waaay to quick to substitute and make moves when he needs to just let things play out earlier on.

I have to add that gardener is a sigificant upgrade defensively as well. Move melky to left, with gardener's speed in center, that's a huge upgrade compared to johnny Damon in the outfield....

sorry for late post....

sorry for late post....

hi guys,

just got home after partying @ bar watchg gm, eating...

and we have ANOTHER BAD call by the umpires...
did it affect the outcome of the game? NO... Yanks won anyway...

but,

did it possibly affect the betting aspect of the game? YES

instead of bases loaded and 1 out... its 3 outs, inning over...

1) 1st base ump could not possibly see whether Howard caught the ball or short-hopped it (being positioned behind the play)...
YET.... He immediately signaled "OUT" ... why?
he should have made a signal to indicate he could not see the play... wait til the action stopped.. then sorted it out w/the others..
2) Posada saw it was not caught... Howard knew it was not caught... the batter knew... the pitcher knew... the catcher knew...and probably the home plate ump and maybe the 3rd base ump...

He also missed the double play call against the Phils early in the game when rollins beat out the dp....

I'm sorry... these guys missed more callis in the last 3 wks than I can believe possible...

baseball should be embarrased.... and those umpires should keep their heads in the game!!

at least during the world series... c'mon mannn!
