it's the running joke amongst people who live here but are fans of other teams

it's been nausiating to hear for years how this team was the most "talented roster in the nfl".....probably was said for about 5 straight years even as they never accomplished anything and really were NEVER close to being the most talented team in the nfl (horseshit division for years, poor record vs other teams that were actually; good....poor road record, terrible playoff record and we all know about norv and rivers)

i continue to use the joke because, well, it's hilarious.

ok, good, cause i was gonna say! lol - average recievers, average running backs, good line, above average defense.

i will agree that back in the rivers, lt, and jackson days they had one of the more talented teams in the league, but AJ Smith and his fucking ego ran Marty out of town. I think they would've won a SB

the only team they matched up with was manning and the colts......ravens, brady and pats, big ben and pitt were ALL better teams in every year when doltz had that roster and they weren't beating any of those teams in the playoffs with or without marty.

great reg season records but look at the afc west those years, horrid

now their roster is below average and their coach remains a lifelong loser (check the overall record) but they remain in a bad division where 8-9 wins usually gets a playoff bid (might be different with manning this year)

probably in the top third during those years....putting them 10th or 11th

part of being talented is beating other talented teams which they never did AND playing under control which they never did in the playoffs.....always imploded trying to prove how tough they were (which they really weren't...bunch of posers)

personally, i hope norv rallies them to 9-7 just missing the playoffs on a tie-breaker and is retained for another 5 years!!!!!
