Thought I clear away some of the cob webs in here and post a few for today. Yes, i have seen some of the regulars around lately and good to see them.

Waaaay out on the limb pick
No, I definitely don't pick 20-1 morning liners often but I cannot forget the last one I played and picked that, at 45-1, won the last race with no other horse next to him ... AND then the bastages took him down, as in "DQed". . I need to find another to help me forget about that one and there is one that, with PLENTY of Lady Luck, could pull it off today. Well, at least it's chances of winning are MUCH better than her M.L. of 20-1 according to my figures.

Nuff of that .. Race 5, no. 4, Chalk Player is the hoss. Terrible trainer, beaten by 43+ lengths in her last race and LUVS to finish 2nd (from last place, that is). And that's exactly what she did in her last 4 races. Did a little better in the race before that by beating 2 horses but was 14+ lengths behind the wiener. Why post something like this?....

This horse has been getting the crap beaten out of her in N.Y. in previous races vs. much better company and my pace figures tell me that she can, at least, compete {very hard to write "Beat" with this one) with the nags she's facing today. She has a jockey that I like to see on LONGshots as well. VERY nice breeding (doesn't mean much cause it is obvious that the genes just ain't mixing right or something like dat) and an off track, which is what I expect to see today, will help her as well. Sane handicappers won't bet her so her price could exceed her morning line as well.

Whatever the case... small sized tickets on this one. BTW, I'm giving a bit of a chance to the other 20-1 shot (no. 5) in this race and that one will get a whole stinkin $2 to win play. A win by that one would cover the zotics and straight bets on the no. 4 which I plan on making. BTW, IF I bet trifectas (I ain't) in this race, I'd use the no. 4 in them.

Saner plays
Here's a couple more that make more sense and, unfortunately, lesser profit -

Race 7 - the hosses are 2-9-1. I like the nos. 1 or 2 as zacta factas. But, that no. 9 is owned by Lisa (I wrote about her in here recently) and you just can not ignore her.

Race 8 - No. 1 (7 to 2) looks like the right one to use/play.

G.L.

Wrap up

Wrap up

A picture's worth a 1000 words?..

Played 3 races; lost 3 races UGH

Excuses Dept.
5th race: Looks like the only one that didn't get fooled by the pick was the dang HOSS! She got bet down to 11-1 and, after seeing her run down the backstretch, I'm sure she was well meant today. Her race today was a HUGE improvement over her previous. Candidate for the "Hosses to Watch" list? Yes, but remember it's the "Hosses to AVOID" list now.

8th race: IF that no. 1 hoss woulda nailed the place spot instead of the Show - woulda hit the tri. It wouldn't have been a big one anyhow.

7th race: NO EXCUSES for this one. I just didn't care for the horse that won this race.

Have to see about tomorrow's card; may take a vacation day and save the real action for good ole TUESday. If Tuesday's card is decent and still doesn't work out - may be time for a long vacation or at least wait for the track to get back to "Fast" and even then - just see how i woulda done without bothering with my wallet. .

Hope somebody did better today.. G.L.

Hi Jim,

No Excuses needed. We all understand what horse racing is all about, racing trip, racing luck, etc. Keep your analyses coming.

Thanks, MJers.

For the last two Philly seasons, I was pretty much up at this time of the year. Not so this season and that's what bugs me.

Fun to write the posts, but not losing. Didn't even look at the entries for today.

Get this... (maybe it's this that has me a bit aggravated) - on Friday I get an email that tells me that one of my "Alerts" is running at WOODBINE, of all places. You folks know about them "Alerts", right? I must have set one up with Bris and saw a horse run that I thought looked worthy enough to put on the alert list. Thems will email ya a day before a horse on your list runs. I didn't even remember this particular hoss? Musta been quite awhile ago when I put him on the list.

Well, IF I played every one of the alerts that I got from Bris - I'd REALLY be sucking wind by now. Yeah, there were a few nice winners, but not nearly enough. And the funny thing is that I probable saw the horse run at A.C. (Philly vacation time) or maybe in a big televised race awhile back.

Anyway, the bankaroo is getting low and I thought I might as well give this "Alert" hoss a shot. Then I figured , better not, M.L. was 8-1.

The hoss was Awesome "something" and he/she ran in a major race at Woodbine on Sat. Guess what.. yep, the bastage won , paid $18+ and topped off a VERY nice exacta in a field of 8 (pretty sure it was 8). Zacta was into 3 figures.

SON -Ah-Ma-BEECH.

Things like that make me start to lose interest.

Guess what, I'm sooo sorry I brought up that story.

I just checked and the horse's name was Awesome Fire. It did pay $18.80.

And, in a 9 horse field, you know what the exacta paid??? HUH? ... try $680.30. and it did cross my mind to just do an exacta wheel with it on top, only. FLUCK!
