Don't know why I'm posting picks cause I sure as hell not recommending anybody plays along. That's not because I've been doing badly, really haven't, but it's because the races today remind me of that there Breeders Cups Circus that comes to town every year. You know, racing between CLONES. I'm also posting cause I've heard from more folks who are interested in the posts and the high viewership.

ALSO, I capped today's playable races with a bit of an edge given to the higher priced (ODDS) horses cause they all look the same and it makes a lot of sense to go for the gusto in that situation. That DOESN'T mean longshots are automatically picked though, just given a bit more credit... a tiny bit.

Race 4: It's a playable race, but it's as if they put together a list of horses that have the same good and bad factors together and demanded they get entered. Terrible! And the following two races ain't much different. After a lot of effort - here's the horses I'll be working with and looking at:
1,4,5,9.

Race 6: No. 8, Gentle Edwin, is a long time 7 yr. old Philly dirt bomb that has a decent record and appears to have enough left to take care of $5K claimers. I've been watching this horse which gives me a little confidence with the pick and I don't believe he ever raced at a level this low.
IF I play exactas, his zacta mates will be the 1,2,6,7. Also gotta make a side play on no. 4 to WIN, only. That no. 4 has a 1 for 45 LIFETIME record (Sheesh) but can outclose all of these dirt bag opponents in this race. Tough call no matter which one you pick in this race and that fact should automatically beef up the zotic payoff a bit. That makes this race worth playing IMO.

Race 8: Turf (Ugh!). Nos. 7 and 9 are the keys. Exacta mates look to be the 2,4,5.

You never know when a good day at this track is gonna happen.. G.L.

FYI-The Vet has scratched #8-Gentle Edwin in the 6th Race.

Gee whiz, kinda liked that one today.

I get to watch all the races today :)
.. and it's paying off already. No. 6 was a L@@KER in the second and the figure hosses were the favs. nos 1 and 2.
DT, you may not be aware of the "Magic" nos. are ya? For exactas it's 1<->2 in distant races and 2<->6 for all races. and THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU BET THE "MAGIC" IN ALL RACES. But, you do in this race. Went with exactas in the 2nd 6 top/bot 1,2 and, OF COURSE, doubled up with the 6<->2.

Hammy knows them. If you're gonna be around all day today, I can make an effort (gotta go a little fast and still I can't get them posted with more than about 2 min. to post) let me know if you want me to give it a go.

Good Luck today.

3rd: No. 4 is a first timer and workouts ain't that great. But the LOOKS are there to tell me that there's a good chance he'll be flying early.

How far will he go? Got me?

Those 3 yr. olds were doing some serious running early on in this 3rd race. That no. 4 is a fighter and I'll try to keep an eye out for him again.

edited: Funny thing... this ->:popcorn2 is exactly what I was REALLY doing an hour ago. LOL

Lesson for today - it DOES payoff to watch the races LIVE rather than betting them way ahead.

My closest exacta got nailed, but due to the L@@KERs -> I put $8 (really) Win on the 4 and the 6 and $5 on the no. 2. Covered the race cost with a little left over. Tellya, I was pulling for that no. 2 (21/1) early on.

For quite awhile, like YEARS, the trotters were my favorites. I luved the big races for the thoroughbreds and luved ALL the standard bred races (trotters/pacers).

For a number of years, I lost almost all interest in the flats because I spent my horse racing time with the trotters and I could hit them any NIGHT I wanted to. No, not a degenerate but the closest I came to that was with the trotters/pacers.

Went to opening night at the Meadowlands, a track that cleaned me out most of the time. Had to park about a 1/4 mile away that night. All windows opened and all lines were real long. Plenty of excitement. Went with a couple of friends and my girlfriend (Mrs. Jimboski these days) and thoroughly enjoyed it despite getting cleaned out.

Yonkers was my favorite track, but you had to lay down them big bucks to make a go of it at that track and that's what I used to do. At Yonkers - the dirt bags/bums were in the STANDS not the track. Didn't bother me at all. Held my own at them little bullring track like Yonkers and Roosevelt, esp. the former. Crowds/ excitement were huge during those times.

These days, I'd find the harness tracks too depressing to go to; that sport is close to being permanently forgotten about. Pompano Park is a nice track down here, been there quite a few times, BEFORE they built the casino next door. I'm pretty sure they're dying a slow death cause I did go one night after the casino was opened and the "action" was in the casino and not at the track. :(

On a different subject - things ain't going for me like they used to the last week or so with my trusty Philadelphia bombers, HM.

Back for more Jim......let's get some winners. If you like baseball I love Miley tonight. He's been good the 1st part of the year...really bad in the middle, and back on track. I'll look for your picks for racing today.
