Maybe Cig "Mon" is gonna check out Philly today so here's my handicapped picks for the races I worked on so far (1 through 6):

1st race
don't lose your money on this race.

2nd race
same as first race

3rd race
No. 6, Surround Sound, M.L. 9/2, looks pretty dang solid in this one. Terrible jockey and trainer does very little winning here at Philly. She is a capable trainer though (at lesser tracks). Last race on this one sez, "Get on board" today. The poor connections should help her odds too. I tried to come up with zacta horses with this one and I did find a few but I have little confidence with them and I don't wanna ruin a decent looking Win/Place/Show play on this one. If ya just gotta give the exotics a try - I'd put her top/bot. with the 1,2,4. Don't forget, nos. 2 and 6 make a lovely marriage when it comes to zactas.

4th race
Why not try a Tri? Box 1-2-6. Back it up with an accross the board (W/P and Show @ 3x) on no. 1, El Dubai @ 12-1.

5th race
Playable, but I gotta see them on the track first. I got 3 kinda bets ready to put in and it all depends on how they look.....
Capping comes up with nos. 1,2,4. Hey, thems are "magic" trifecta nos. So boxing them for a trifecta is one play.
Now the puzzle (you know like playing Gulfstream) part :(
Two key hosses in this race are the nos. 2 and 4. For me, it's gonna be 2 top/bot with the 1,4,7 AND no. 4 W/Pl on the side for a backup ... OR ....
no. 4 top/bot with the 1,2,7 and the no. 2 W/Pl on the side. Get it? Ooops, almost forgot... sorry bout this but -> the above bets means you/me will have either a 1-2 exacta box or a 1-4 exacta box ticket. That ticket should be played for double the amount of the other exacta box tickets.

6th race
No complicated stuff for this race. The fav., no. 5 with Mouch looks best. Good enough that I won't even consider any of the other horses in this race. Still, not biting at the expected odds which will prob. be somewhere around 1-1. Unless one of them looks R2R in the prerace - this race looks like a No Play.

Think there may be something in the later races but I'll checkem out later.

7th - two outside horses are the plays.. 9,10.
Odds are good enough for a play on both, one of them gets played top/bot with all in zactas. Other one gets played. W/P/Sh 2x. Take yer pick.
Just may be time for a nice, juicey Philly exacta :)~

Hope yas picked the right one to do the ole Philly wheel jobie. Had that no. 5 marked in my "lookin good" column while spotting them in the prerace. Took no chances and just did the wheel with all bit, TOP n BOT of course.

Forget the 8th, but the 9th looks OK to play.

Capped top 3 picks look solid... 1,5,9. Unfortunately, the no. 1 comes up pretty comfortable in the top spot and he's the favorite. Also, Flores just LUVS the rail.

But, that no. 5, considering the odds, is VERLY interlesting - even with a "Kyle Frey" on his back.

Gotta see them before deciding how to play this thing. May not get a chance to come back.

close one... damn 5 horse

GOTTA do the wheel job, TOP n Bot., at this track, Cig. ANYTHING can come in with your hoss. And the payoffs are usually great if the mystery hoss gets in the exotic. BTW, I waz a little dissappointed with the $105 exacta on that race. Plenty of horses, 22-1 in the pic. and no favorite.

Good to seeya, HogMan. Hope you've been holding up good with the ponies.

Really tough to leave out that no. 9 at 7-1 OR ANYTHING CLOSE TO THAT.

Throw in a horse that plain STINKs on paper, but looks good on the track today... no. 4, currently at 15-1 :)~

EGAD

EGAD

Cig, not sure if you're (1) serious, (2) delierious, or (3) just BS ing. I HOPE the answer isn't no. 1.

It's tough to pick only 3 horses and figure they're gonna finish 1-2-3 even if it's in any order. And to do that with two of the horses being first and second choices is worser cause you're trying to do something that's real hard to do AND the payoff is not going to warrant the risk.

Thanks for having so much faith in the picks, but IMO shooting for the BIG payoff to recover the day in the last race is a losing game. Look, hitting an exacta is MUCH, MUCH easier than nailing a tri. Check out how you woulda done hitting the zacta instead and compare that to the trifecta payout. There was something like 5 horses that coulda hit the show spot for that tri... YOU HAD ONLY ONE OF THEM. With the zacta - you don't care who hits the 3rd spot.

I lost that last race, but I still like the way I played them... put the no. 1 and the no. 5 top/bottom (ALWAYS at this track) with the 3 PRICE hosses to complete the exacta. Purposely left out the two low odds horses (1-5 or 5-1) to complete the exacta.

OH, and I NEVER leave out a horse that I SPOTTED.. like that no. 4 in this last race. Those are the kinda horses that produce middle 3 figure payoffs in zactas and BIG BALLOONs in trifectas. Stick around and you'll see it in action some day.

I always look for the pricey payoffs for this track. A place like Aqueduct is a different story.

I've pulled in $500 payouts with two stinkin dollar tickets PLENTY of times. No need for $10 tickets at Philly. If you wanna spend $30 on a race, WHEEL a pick top/bottom in a race that YOU think may produce a good payoff.

Just stating the way I think it's best to playem and I hope I'm not being rude. Absolutely no 5 or 6 horse fields. And no races with more than ONE first time starter.

Philly hasn't been playing the way it did BEFORE the snow/freeze fiasco so take it easy. Skipping plenty of races is the way to go for now. It's getting better though and just maybe better days are ahead for us.
