Had absolutely no intentions of playing or posting a thing today but I gotta respect 185 Views even though I like replies much better. Gotta think that there must be a few Peepers that are actually playing my stinkin (lately) picks, so I'll give it a go again today.
At a glance, the card looked FAIRly good for today; after working out a few races - it AIN'T. Just not finding anything special about a single horse in almost all the waces.
Not hepped up about any of these, but they are playable...
3rd race; got marked down trifectas - 1.3.4/1,3,4,7/1,3,4,7. Don't know about really playing these though - "the 4 favorites", that ain't my style and NOT the thing to do at this twack. To back it up - no. 7 OVER 1,3,4. Let's just SEE what the hell happens.
4th race, it's a playable race alright but I can't find THE one(s) to go on. If YOU like a zacta - this might be the race to play it. Nos. 2 and 3 get figures and I am VERY familiar with the no. 3. Trouble is, one is strictly a turf runner and the other is a definite MONEY BURNER that gets an "E" for effort in most of it's races. No value in the odds for either one. IF (I doubt it) no. 3 goes off at it's M.L. or better (9 to 2), I may take a shot with that dirt bag.
A little and ONLY a little ... more confident bout these last two -
8th race: Tries and Zacks. 2,4/1,2,5,8/1,2,4,8 and that ain't a typo. Zack route is 4,5 top/bot 1,8. Just want ONE stinkin horse? That would be no. 8, Trick My Hat (5 to 1). Yeah, it looks like a contradiction, but I don't believe it is cause the no. 8 is a better value play for just playing the Win spot.
10th race: Similar to race 8, Zacks and Tries. 7/3,4,6,8,/3,4,6,8 and/or No. 8 just OVER nos. 3,4,6 and for more than 2 stinkin bucks on the zactas too.
I ain't playing these ahead of time like I usually do. When the capping gets a little shaky and the bankaroo shows it - it's better to do what the "LOSAHS" (who do this for ALL the races thems play) and just bet a bit heavy on just one hoss to win. Actually, I should take the "Losah" part back cause betting like that can work at some tracks like say - Aqueduct. But, passing up generous Philly zotics and looking for just one winner that's in form and gets high marks from the usual way to cap hosses (like Beyer nos, $/start, consistency, stuff lke that) AIN'T the way to go in Philly IMO. Some tracks form holds up and some tracks it doesn't.
Basically, when the bankroll is getting close to being on life support - I think it's best to forget going for the big hits via exotic bets and go for the surer play. That means that I MAY just hit (kinda heavy) the no. 8 in the 8th to win, only. If it wins, I'M DONE for the day. IF it doesn't, I gotta play the no. 8 in the last wace the same way.
The good news is that the earlier race has the horse with the much better odds and that makes it very easy to stop at that point. The bad news is that you may have to go with a horse (in the 10th) that hates to win (1 for 38 and finished ITM in it's last 7 starts too). There is an insurance play in the last race - no. 10 (Win, only), M.L. is 12-1 so it won't cost much.
