Phil's Thrills for Thursday 1/24

Well, I dont know what to say. A complete embarassment on my part, an utter disgrace on Thursday going 0-4. Lost Boston and Toronto and the two first halves. Was 6 seconds away from winning Boston only they decided to give Indy 4 shots at a 3, and Walker walked away from his man towards the bench with time running down and let him make a 3 for the cover. Oy.

But those are the breaks and life goes on.

11-10 on the week, 28-19 on the year.

Only one pick right now:

New Jersey -4

NJ is hot right now and has been doing real well for me as of late. A recent defeat of San Antonio snapped J.Kidd out of a funk. They catch a Houston team that has won 2 of their last eight, and will still be without the service of Kenny Thomas, a 14p/7r guy this year who is still sitting out his fighting suspension.

Hope that 0-fer was a one night abberation.

Will also take the first half here at < 3.

how much?

how much?

Phil, Current line is at 4.5. Nets scare me, they sometimes come out flat. Witht he rockets at home getting points how may is too may for the nets? I do like the nets, rockets have terrible home record. -whoopie

I took them at 4 this morning and just took some more at 3.5.

The line, I think, is too low. Sagarin would put this game around Nets - 5 or 6. Nets are a slow first half team but pour it on in the second half. I like JKidd here to have a hot night. He was looking for a night like he had against San Antonio and I look for him to come up big tonight. If the line keeps dropping I will keep grabbing onto some more.

Lets right the ship tonight.

This trip to Texas has resulted in some very strange lines for NJ. First they were +3 at Dallas, when I expected them to be +9 or so. Then they were +7.5 at San Antonio when they should have been +3 or so (given SA's trouble against good teams), and I had a moneyline winner with the Nets. Now they're -4.5 at Houston, and the line should be -1 or a pick.

They were only +8 at NJ last week WITHOUT FRANCIS, and 3.5 points isn't much for the home/away adjustment by itself. Rockets are 12-11 w/ Francis, and 1-18 without. Houston played great against the Mavs, and they should play well enough to stay within this inflated number with the turnover-prone Francis (17 TO's in his last 3 games).
