This past weekend I sat ringside for a local boxing matches ran by Roy Jones JR. He was there and I was right next him pretty much all night. Great guy, very cool with fans taking pictures and signing autographs, and yes I got one too. He's still in pretty good shape.

That begs my question, and many of you know I played small college basketball on full ride, but if I could pick a sport that I would have loved to participated in, it would have been boxing or now the UFC/MMA.

I just want to know what it feels like to be sitting back in locker room waiting to be called out to a song of your choice (Lunatic Fringe or Eminence Front for me). Making that walk to the ring, and taking yourself to a place mentally that no man can relate, and or to a point of no return and for lack of a better word KILL. Sure I had some fun playing for championships or in front a big crowds for me or at that level, but damn just seeing these fighters this past weekend in front of just 2000 fans maybe and being ringside to feel it was such a fucking rush for me. Wish I could go back and at least give it a shot.....

Whats your sport and why?

Hockey. I grew up playing the game and played with some guys that are hall of fame players. Chelios, Olzcyk, to name a couple. Still have ties to the game and wish I could still play.

Thats cool, Lyle Odelein works out at my gym here. Nice guy. See him out all the time too. Do you still skate at all? Buddy of mine plays in like a over 40 league here at local ice rink, said it is just a great way stay in shape.

I was fortunate enough to play tennis professionally (ok well not really I sucked so bad and made no money so I guess you could say I never really played) but if I could choose.......

1st. Men's Tennis, I so wish I was better, would have been great to play in a Grand Slam, but sadly I sucked.

2nd. Team Canada Hockey Every Canadian dreams of that. How cool would it be to represent your country playing the National sport....wow:scared

3rd. Ski Jumping at Olympics

I think this says it all........I mean how cool would it be to do that:scared

I played in an over 40 league this spring at a rink locally and I paid for it physically too. Just too many surgeries any more and my hand has not ever really recovered from an unfortunate injury and subsequent surgery. I am going to play as an alternate this fall and we will see how that goes. Very cool you played on the hard courts man. i played at some mid level clubs in the Blackhawks organization but it was short lived.

It was cool. Started all 4 years too. I was just faster stronger than most PGs I played against, and work harder than most probably for it. Beat me today I would be back tomorrow and try again mentality. I hurt today though cause of the ankle injuries. No I dont play anymore. Just not the same, and having done it for so many years, I cant be anywhere near what I was and I would fill compelled to run hills/jump rope/or shoot until my hands fall off just to prove a point. Not worth it and would be no fun to me. Plus back in late 80's early 90's there was a game going on everywhere around here, now nothing of substance.

And I could honestly put my name on this post and it would all hold true for me also. That is exactly what I am dealing with. Ankle and knee injuries and a far too competitive streak pretty much wrap that package up too. Had to edit because the PG thing isn't true for me but I know what you mean. I play a very physical game and it is just my nature to play hard and hit hard, hence I do tend to try to bully smaller players but...funny story here. I was playing at Southwest Ice arena many moons ago. I was thirteen to be exact and I was actually with the North Park all stars which also had a kid named Granato by the way. Well we were going against a traveling team that had Chelios and Olczyck on it and Cheli was digging a puck out of the snow in the corner and everyone knew that he and Eddie were going to go places and I wanted to get a hit on either one. Dude, I take about a 90 foot run at him while he is digging out the puck and just bury him into the boards with a crushing, but admittedly cheap, hit and look down on him writhing on the ice, turn and make my way to the bin. i literally didn't make it to the damn blue line and I feel a tap on my shoulder and there he is bleeding from eyes, nose, and mouth and says to me......let's go pussy. He probably hit me forty eight times before I got out my attempt at hell yes. I don't know that I ever saw anyone hit that many times in a row but it all happened so fast that I didn't have time to pass out. Every time everything started fading to black he would clock me again and wake me back up....Anyway, we ended up being life long friends after that and my Mother and his Mother went to church together ever since. So I am in Boston with my best friend and we are going to meet Chris at this sports bar called Fours or Fores I don't know and we are there and this kid start giving me grief about the Hawks jersey I have on. He is going on and on about how much of a punk Chelly is and such, so I being the gentleman I am, inform him that Chris and I are friends and if he didn't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all....or something like that. Later he spots Chelly walking in and runs up and asks for an autograph. Chris sees me and starts making his way over to us when I inform him that this is the same kid that called him a cocksucker not ten minutes ago. So Chris just hands his hat back. Well the kid screams out, "You will never be as good as Borque". I yell back "Ray Borque likes men" Well ten minutes later as I am picking myself up off the street out front that the Four bouncers threw me onto. Chelly walks up and the first thing I say is of course "where the hell where you with your windmill of death shit this time"

His reply "I like Ray"

I thought it was funny.

Next to the Iron Man.........water polo has to be the toughest sport on earth to play.

That sport is brutal to play. And if you get up to the pro level they kick and punch you underwater, it is a brutal sport:scared
