Will the HEAVENS have a say in Saturday’s PREAKNESS? Today, Friday, and through the night there will be rain showers at PIMLICO with the SUN greeting the morning and early afternoon hours. Scattered showers are forecast to begin around 4PM and continue through the night on Saturday (PREAKNESS race time 6:09 PM). If this be the case and the TRACK is rated SLOPPY then look for #5 SCRAPPY T (20/1) to have an easier task at bring home the TOP PRIZE. The STATS for the Kentucky Derby were not all that impressive, as far as, PACE and SPEED. Of the favorites #12 AFLEET ALEX (5/2) and #7 CLOSING ARGUMENT (5/1) can still pull this one off if TRACK CONDITIONS allow it. #13 GIACOMO (6/1) needs the race to produce fast early fractions in order to take out the EARLY SPEED and EARLY PACE horses so he can come from off the PACE. Distance is slightly shorter –1/16 which may also be a factor for him.

DD, I don't win much either but if you could get to a window, #'s 5, 7 & 12 have been bet down in anticipation of a sloppy track which would favor 5-7-12. If the cost is not prohibitive, I would throw #2 High Flyer in. I've never made a trifecta so I have no idea of the cost. If the track is off or good and the footing is OK, I would favor 12-2-7. What track are you going to?
Well, that's my flavor. Have a good time, it's a memorable event.
