MILWAUKEE BREWERS -105 ? Jamey Wright probably wishes he could face the Pirates in every start! While he is in the midst of a terrible season, his best effort of the year came against these Bucs 2 starts back, as he pitched a Complete Game 3-hit shutout. He now has a 2.16 ERA and a remarkable WHIP of 0.96 in 2 starts vs. Pittsburgh this season, and a 3.66 ERA vs. the Pirates in 6 starts over the past 3 years, encompassing 39.1 innings. Kip Wells was on the losing end of Wright?s shutout 2 starts back, and then had his worst start of the year in his last start, allowing 8 runs (7 earned) and 11 Men on Base in only 4.1 innings vs. Houston. It appears as though Wells has been pitching over his head for much of the season, and is now beginning his descent back to his normal mediocrity. His current ERA of 3.41 is still significantly better than his career ERA of 4.64, so he may be in line for a couple of more shaky outings before he levels off.
