Season: 4-4
This is a bigger game for the men in green than it is for the Pistons for a few reasons...
1. The Pistons have owned the Celtics, winning nine of the last ten in this series. This should be an intense game between two of the Eastern Conference heavyweights.
2. The Celtics have been getting fat off an "easy" home-heavy schedule. They have seven of their twenty wins against an Atlantic division that sports a collective 42-57 record outside of the Celtics.
3. In both of the Celtics losses they have gotten behind early in the first quarter. The Pistons average 26.17 points in the first quarter, seventh-best in the NBA.
It seems odd to me that Detroit is getting six points, despite the fact that they have averaged 100.15 pp/g on the road. The Celtics allowed both Cleveland and Orlando to shoot better than 48% in suffering defeats and Detroit has been hot, shooting 45% over their last five.
I think that Detroit has a great shot to win this game SU, as they are a seasoned team that has played in many big games. On that same note, they have not been as dominant in those games as they were under Larry Brown, losing to both Cleveland and Miami in the last two conference finals. A common thread that these teams had was that they were driven by one superstar. This Celtics team has that in Garnett.
After re-reading this analysis, I am still torn as to who to take.
