Reminiscent of Randy Johnson exploding that dove in Spring Training several years ago, except this was a seagull. There was a 3-2 count, the pitch hit the bird, the batter swung and missed :shrug: the ball then hit the umpire in the ankle and rolled to the backstop. The batter was then thrown out at first, and after the umpires conferred, the play was ruled dead and replayed. In the video, the announcers are oblivious to what happened, lol. The seagull was carried off the field and later flew off on it's own. Better outcome than Randy's dove or Winfield's seagull had, lol. Something that pitcher couldn't have done had he tried.
