i would call attention to the fact that you have a pair of hp umps going in these games whose tendencies is not fully reflected by their current o/u record.
in the phi/cin, larry vanover is only 10/11 to the under this season but clearly has one of the largest strike zones in the league. his 5.29 bb/g ranks him 73rd among 77 umps while his 14.62 k/g ranks him 2nd. that works out to a 2.77 k/bb ratio, one of the leagues highest. of late his o/u numbers are correcting as he is under 6 of his last 8 with a rpg average under 8.
in the atl/fla, one of my favorite "over" umps, chuck meriwether, is only 11-8 to the over after going on a run of 4 overs in a row. however, his strike zone is on of the smallest around. his 8.75 bb/g (2nd) and 10.80 k/g (76th) give his the league's lowest k/bb ratio of 1.23. his games average 11.35 rpg, ranking 4th amont all the umps.
