I'll hit on a few...
Yes, the trip is worth it - walking into the place, you can just feel the history. It is a lot like walking into the old Yankee stadium for the 1st time. If I remember right, the game is a Monday night game - night games are awesome.
Yes, rent a car. That will allow you to tailgate - which people will be doing by 3:00 to 4:00 pm, if not earlier.
You can fly into GB (Austin Straubel airport), but it may be cheaper to fly into Milwaukee and drive up (about 2 hour drive). Look into Midwest Airlines - they have the most direct flights into and out of Milwaukee (although I'm not sure where you are coming from - I think somewhere in Ohio?)
There is also a nice indian casino not far from the stadium.....
Hotels? Good Luck - usually all hotels are booked up for a 30-50 miile radius once the schedule comes out early in the year. Your best bet? Start calling around to see if any have had cancellations - if not, start putting your name on their lists, in case of future cancellations.
Tickets? Any way you can get them is fine. I would suggest trying business contacts. I would want to sit between the 40's, about 20-30 rows up. Of course, those are the toughest.
It is an experience - we take it for granted here, as we are used to it. Obviously, I'm biased, but it is quite the experience.
