Need advice...

Tiller broke down on me so I am late to put down the winter rye grass seeds. I have a small patch (about 1000 sq ft) that I want to cover with grass this winter. There is an expected drop in temperature (below freezing) in Arlington on Tuesday of next week. Question is should I put down the seeds today or wait until Thursday of next week. I have read a lot of confusing information online as to when to plant the annual rye grass.

Thanks in advance.

Air temperature now is about 70 degrees, but it's supposed to rain tomorrow and then a cold front will bring temperatures down a bit. I am assuming the ground temperature will be in the 50's after the cold front. My concern is the second cold front on Tuesday of next week. It's supposed to dip down below 32 degrees. If I throw the seeds out now, will the freeze next Tuesday night prevent it from maturing? Would I be better off waiting until Thursday of next week to start planting?

Thank you so much for your advice.

I wouldn't think so...you can always over seed ..

use starter fert..then a another fert that fits your soil ...

fall seeding isn't as hard as we sometimes make it out to be..

it's the best time...seed ...fert...rain...and let mother nature do the rest...

if you are still concerned call you local best grass grower ..

truegreen or natures own...any of those national guys

those guys should be glad to part with wisdom...
